Play Structure Thread - Build your own or buy a kit?

Kid in question (not needed just showing how awesome he is)

http://i48.tinypic.com/1zbz0oj.jpg

Playstructure type deal

http://www.thefamilygroove.com/rainb...y%20system.jpg

So does anyone make these kinds of playstructures themselves or do we all just buy the kits and build them from a kit?

/1st time dad

//kid just started walking

///need something for him to climb and fall off of while i watch from lawn chair

I'm gonna post up what I build or buy, but I'd appreciate any advice you veterans would offer.

Thanks!

Why torture your kid by dressing him that way? Kids subjected to this level of abuse tend seek parental revenge by STAYING CHIEFS FANS FOREVER. Oh the humanity.

I helped a friend build one of these many years ago, the "kit" was just the slide and all the non-lumber items, instructions, and a list of the types and amount of lumber needed build it. So assuming nothing has changed, even if you buy a kit, you're still going to have to build it yourself.

This. It's not like you don't have to measure and saw stuff.

I have an older Rainbow swingset I've been trying to give away if someone would just come and get it. It's yours if you want. PM if you're interested and I can send you pics. It would need some work....some boards replaced, maybe some screws and such.

Edit : well hell, just saw your location is Northern California. Nevermind. I'm here in the heart of the country, where apparently the wind chill is going to get down to 20 degrees at night in April.

I'm a carpenter and built my kid one from scratch a few years back. Never again. Kit is the way to go.

I'm handy, and the one I built via kit from Sam's was still a hell of a project.
