And his name is Frank Moreau.
With all respect to Cloud, Moreau is/will be the real deal. The only question is how fast will he progress? All early indications are that he will quickly be a weapon. What usually keeps rookie RBs from seeing much playing time (Cloud was a good example his first year) is the learning curve on pass-blocking technique, and blitz pick-up schemes. Moreau comes from a pass first university and reportedly came out of camp well advanced in these areas. He is the only RB on the squad that is a true inside/outside runner. His quickness, burst, and ability to turn the corner got me excited during the preseason and it broke my heart last week to see Bennett try and take a pitch wide. There is zero comparison. TRich is quick enough to lead Moreau through some tremendous holes and potentially out perform Alstott/Dunn. I have no idea how much playing time our coaching staff will give Moreau today, but watch him closely. He is our future at HB, and along with Gonzo and Morris will be fixtures in KC for years to come. Luz give moreau the ball... |
Hopefully today, he get the chance to earn the job for the rest of the season.
Now, time to start makin the chili. Chiefs-17 Titans-13 |
Luz,
I would hope that you are right. I hope that the coaches see a HB that produces in the ground game, whether it is Moreau or Cloud, and continue to feed that back the ball, in this game, and throughout the season. However, I don't believe that will happen. Whether we like it or not (and most of us don't) we are stuck with the SitCom as long as Gun is in charge, unless he wakes up some morning and realizes that a RB needs carries to get into the flow of the game. ------------------ Red Eyes [i]Chinn Up, it ain't nothin' but a thang.</I> |
milkman,
I am currently very frustrated with Gun, so don't take this as a defense of him but... For the third year now, the Chiefs are waiting for a RB, any RB, to step forward and take the job; force the issue; leave the coaches no choice. Anders came the closest to doing this, only to be injured. Whether we like the methodology or not, this is the only way a RB in KC will dominate the number of carries. Gun does not prefer RBBC, it is his default setting until someone forces the issue. Moreau has the potential to do this. Luz give moreau the ball... |
Moreau shows a lot of promise but he may be injury prone. Wasn't his biggest fault as a runner that the had no "dip in the hip" and gave the defense a bigger target to hit. He might show us what we want to see, but can he keep doing it over an NFL schedule.

Hope you are right, Luz, whether it is Moreau or Cloud. The worst thing to happen would be to go into next weeks game, and switching around again.

Gunther's already starting 2 rookies... If Moreau has a big day then there's no reason why Gun won't start 3 next week...
We're going to have to pass Today, we all know that and honestly, I think Gunther realizes that as well... But we can't just give up the run, and the titans are a though bunch to run against... if we're going to win, we need to be successful passing, and we need a RB to step it up... I'm with ya' Luz... I'm hoping that it's Moreau... I've liked what I've seen of him, I like his size and I like the numbers he put up last year at college... May he be our later-round RB diamond in the rough... ------------------ Lightening Crashes... and i am there... |
If Moreau gets enough carries, he might well become that feature back that we all are clamoring for. The problem, as I see it, is that the backs are rotated in and out so often tat none of them get the real opportunity to show that they have what it takes to win that position. If, however, Moreau does get that chance (I also see his potential) then with the help of Lavan, who is at least one coach on this staff who has shown the ability to do his job effectively, Moreau will learn to lower his body, and get that "dip in the hip" IMO.

Cloud is trade bait(not sure who would want him, unproven). FM is the man. Size, speed and heads up to see where he is going. I hope to see lots of him.
