What's up with ESPN's "sources"?

First they came out with a premature, bogus story about Houston Nutt's resignation, even though the story turned out true in the long run. Now they come out with a Les Miles story that turns out to be false. It seems like people's "sources" are pretty unreliable these days.

Maybe it's been going on for a long time, but it seems that ESPN, which one would usually consider to be a credible news source, has lateley gotten caught up in the scoop factor of today's media-intensive society. Anyway, it might have happened in the past as well, but these are just two that I've noticed recently.

Wasn't Herbstreit the one who had a source about the Les Miles situation? I'll take Herbstreit at his word. It's not over with Les Miles and Michigan. Coaches always say they aren't going anywhere and routinely jump ship after the season. What is he supposed to tell LSU before their biggest game of the season. Hey guys, guess what, I'm going to Michigan, but go out there and play hard.

Maybe he did get some misinformation. John Clayton gets wrong information all the time. I swear he just makes shit up.

Probably just competing with the web.

Who says they are wrong?

What is a coach supposed to do in this situation?
