Hypothetical established players for #1 pick

This is not intended to be a realistic thread.

I want to know what players already in the NFL you would trade the #1 pick for. They can be QB's, RB's, DT's, OL, punters...whatever.

I'll start with some non-QB's:

Calvin Johnson
A.J. Green
Von Miller
J.J. Watt

jd1020 01-06-2013 08:21 PM

If it's not a top 5 QB I'm not interested.

Hoover 01-06-2013 08:22 PM

Andrew Luck

Case closed.

wheeler08 01-06-2013 08:23 PM

Andrew luck.

I wouldn't trade the #1 pick for any player in the NFL because none of them have a penis as chocolatey as Geno.

O.city 01-06-2013 08:23 PM

Rodgers, Brady, Luck, JJ Watt, Megatron.

Rasputin 01-06-2013 08:24 PM

Absolutely none. Pick Geno Smith.

Hammock Parties 01-06-2013 08:24 PM

You managed to find the largest image of Aaron Rodgers that also has the lowest image quality.

Bravo.

Hootie 01-06-2013 08:24 PM

QB's:

Tom Brady
Peyton Manning
Eli Manning
Aaron Rodgers
Drew Brees
Russel Wilson
RGIII
Andrew Luck
Cam Newton
Tony Romo
Matt Ryan
Colin Kaepernick

Those are all of the QB's I'd trade the #1 this year for...I was 50/50 on Tony Romo but if Geno develops to be as good as Romo I'd totally be happy.

I think people are pretty unrealistic when it comes to this #1 pick.

Andrew Luck only?

really? really?

I listed 11 QB's and if Geno turns out to be as good as any one of them I'll be more than happy.

I'd happily trade the #1 for Colin Kaepernick.

Romo was fringe...but he has all of the tools a QB needs. Great release, plus arm, good pocket awareness, good mobility...I think the dysfunctional Cowboys franchise holds him back, but he is starting to come off as quite the choker even to an apologist like me.

Kaepernick no doubt.

O.city 01-06-2013 08:27 PM

Stay safe poverty ghost.

And no, I wouldn't give up the first pick for RGIII.

Hoover 01-06-2013 08:27 PM

I want a young QB so we can enjoy a decade of domination.

You can keep Manning and Brady. I could be convinced to take Rogers, but this is his 8th year in the league.

Hootie 01-06-2013 08:27 PM

basically, I just wanted to see what the expectations were:

so far I predicted as much...

we expect to get an Andrew Luck and some people went as far as to say they wouldn't trade it for anyone, not even Aaron Rodgers

which is ridiculous

Bewbies 01-06-2013 08:27 PM

For me the player would have to be young. For the #1 pick I want someone with 10 years of elite left in them.

Kaepernick no doubt.

Romo is Brett Favre but he's missing the Favre.

I'd give a 4th round pick for him to be backup to Geno Smith.

Hootie 01-06-2013 08:28 PM

P.S. This is a totally unrealistic, hypothetical thread. The Packers would never trade Aaron Rodgers, the Colts would never trade Luck, pretty sure the Lions are content with Calvin Johnson etc...

slimdagreat 01-06-2013 08:29 PM

Aaron Rodgers
RGIII
Luck

That's it

O.city 01-06-2013 08:30 PM

Cam Newton, straight up.

The Franchise 01-06-2013 08:31 PM

Seriously? JJ Watt? I wouldn't trade the first overall for Watt.

I think Tony Romo is under rated by a lot of people, but I would not trade the #1 for him.

I also would not trade the #1 for Cam Newton, in spite of the fact that he might be the most physically gifted of any of those QBs, because I seriously question the mental aspect of his talent.

Outside of QB, I would not trade the #1 overal for any other position.

Great players at any other position are just cogs, outstanding cogs to be sure, but just cogs, nonetheless.

If you don't have a QB, you are wasting your time.

Luck, Manning, Manning, Rodgers, Rothlisberger, Cam, Romo, Brady, Rivers, Stafford, Cutler.

It's not about being unrealistic.

I'm fully aware that Green Bay is not going to trade Aaron Rodgers for our first pick.

It's about giving up a potential franchise QB for some ****ing WR, DE, or LB. Franchise QB > any other position. If you aren't offering a franchise QB then piss off.

Why? Our roster isn't in shape for a serious title run and Manning's skills will start decaying before the 3 years are up. We did this once with Montana and that didn't work.

I want a 10-year franchise level QB. Short of that, I'm willing to roll the dice with Geno, understanding that it probably won't work out the way I want. I'm willing to step up to the table to roll again if Geno doesn't work out.

ThaVirus 01-06-2013 08:38 PM

Well, given our current roster and recent woes at the QB position, it would be damn near impossible to justify sending off the #1 pick for anything other than a QB..

But to play your game (using non-QBs to make it more fun):

Patrick Willis
Von Miller
JJ Watt
Richard Sherman
Darrelle Revis (even though he's pretty old)
AJ Green
Julio Jones
Joe Thomas
Rob Gronkowski
Jimmy Graham
Richard Sherman
Aldon Smith
Jon Beason

ILChief 01-06-2013 08:38 PM

I wouldn't for aj green

I'm not really sure that it is being unrealistic, but I definitely feel like people over-value draft picks.

I mentioned in a thread yesterday that I thought we should offer our second rounder for a 24 year old Percy Harvin. People responded with, "Why would we trade for Harvin? We could just draft a WR with that pick."

Really? You think it is as easy as just turning in a card for our next top 5 receiver? Percy Harvin is who that pick turns out to be in the absolute best case scenario. Odds are the player doesn't come close to making the impact Harvin would.

A non-Chiefs' fan asked me the other day if I'd trade the #1 overall for Romo. Without hesitation I said no, and he thought I was crazy. After thinking about it for a bit, if you told me that the guy we are going to pick would put up 4,500+ yards and a bunch of touchdowns and lead the team and be the face of the franchise, I would take that 10 times out of 10. It just sounds so absurd to trade the #1 for a guy like that, and I probably still wouldn't do it just because of the hope that you strike gold, but it is interesting to think about.

QBs I'd trade the #1 overall for (in order of most want):

Rodgers
P. Manning
Brady
Wilson
RGIII
Brees
Luck
E. Manning
Ryan

I could be convinced to give it up for Kaepernick or Newton with a bit more time. Dalton, though young and showing promise, just doesn't impress me for some reason..

Perhaps shockingly, I'd pass on Roethlisberger and Flacco. I gave Romo half a thought then he threw another interception, so no..

EDIT: Forgot a couple guys:

Stafford is a hell no. THE WORST footwork I've ever ****ing seen.

Rivers is old and blows. No.

Freeman, no. Bradford, no.

Man, I don't see how any of you guys can look at what Wilson's done so far and NOT want to give up the 1st for him..

He passes the ball well, runs the ball well, makes great decisions, seems to be injury free, and a is great leader.

I want him on me..

cdcox 01-06-2013 09:03 PM

Romo is going to be 33 next year and is anti-clutch.

In58men 01-06-2013 09:03 PM

1. Rodgers
2. Luck
3. Andy Dalton (bring it bitches)
4. AJ Green
5. Aldon Smith
6. Patrick Willis
7. JJ Watt
8. Tom Brady (he's got a good 5 years left)
9. RG3

Sorry I couldn't give a top 10

Aldon Smith and Arron Rodgers would be #1 for me.

No, but if Luck were available at 2 I might reconsider. I don't think RGIII will last as long as Bradford will in the league. I also thought it was a great return and bodes well for the future as the Rams went through the worst 5 year stretch in NFL history. 1 player won't solve the entire team's issues.

Bradford is like Cassel.

He isn't good but his defenders will continue to fall back on how the team around him isn't perfect.

You're very unlikely to ever win a SB if you don't have let's say a top 8 QB.
