Weren't people saying that Texas was the "first real defense that Smith would face"? Now, the goalposts have changed.

Yep, sounds like the usual talk about potential draft options for the Chiefs.

Dont worry, these detractors will show up to praise the shit out of Smith if we get to 4 or 5 wins.

Like clockwork.

I think they were talking about the Red Raiders. The "Tech" part was implied.

Because when I think tough defenses, I think Texas Tech

I'd take Smith at #7 overall but not at #5.

RunKC 10-13-2012 07:22 PM

I like Geno Smith, but I don't think he's shown much to think he could be a franchise NFL QB.

What else does he need to show?

What happened today shouldn't knock Smith down at all... but that said, watching Texas today, there's no way you can call them a semi-legitimate defense. They are terrible.

They were embarrassing this afternoon. My bigger point in all of this is the changing basis for evaluation. Given the relative low-risk of drafting a QB, this hyper-scrutiny on a single position is pretty laughable to me.

every year, QB X isn't good enough for chiefs fans...

Luck wasn't accurate enough (not making this up)
RG3 was a running QB

blah blah blah...it's an old tradition from a dumb fanbase

If only he was a pocket passer instead of a running QB.

Deez, lets say we pick at 9 and Pioli is still the GM.

We dont trade up and by the time we are on the clock, Geno, Barkley and Wilson are off the board. No juniors declare.

Would you be pissed if we pass on Landry Jones?

I wouldn't.
