last night, I encountered a team that was still using the UAV as an elevator to get ontop of buildings. I thought the last patch fixed that.


also, I had a game where 8 of 12 of my team were on a super tall building (Gulf of Oman, I think?), laying prone in what appeared to be a sniping effort. we lost, of course, by about 180 tickets and those dudes combined for like 8 kills.

So, I decided to give BF3 another try (PS3) and I can't even get the game to start up. Sometimes it doesn't even go to the main menu screen. It just sits there with a black screen. Other times it goes to the main menu but won't load a game (either multiplayer or campaign)...again, black screen. I've let it sit there for 20 minutes just waiting. Then, to get out of that, I have to hard reset the system (holding pwr button down). I can't even get to the PS3's "quit game" screen. Has anyone had problems like these?

EDIT: It updated to 1.03 version when I first turned it on, and it's been crap from there.

Over the past hour I've tried to start it 6 times, I think. Twice it didn't even show the "Frostbite 2" startup screen or get to the main menu. Once it hung on the black screen trying to start multiplayer and three times it hung on the black screen trying to play campaign. The last time I was able to hit the "PS" button and choose "Quit Game", but it ended up beeping a few times and rebooted the system. This game sucks if I have to deal with this.

UPDATE: I found a few forum posts about similar freezes and they all said to rebuild the PS3 database and it will work fine. I did, and it still doesn't work. I'm just about ready to scrap the idea.

When I tried out the demo to this game, I just didn't like the feel of it. I guess I'm just more of a cod person.

You need to try Squad or Team Deathmatch then, you'd be right at home.

Yep, haven't seen you on in quite a while. I gave the ME3 demo a shot and just wasn't into it.

UPDATE 2: I decided to give it another try last night. I deleted all the BF3 game data (two different sections in the PS3 XMB) and then started the game. It said it found the latest update (of course) and needed to DL it. So, ~750mb later, I installed the updates. After that, the game started fine and I was able to start a new campaign. I didn't have enough time to try to get into online play, but I'm hopeful it will work. It seems strange to me that deleting all the game data and reinstalling fixed my problems, but rebuilding the PS3 database didn't. Oh well.

I think I'm going to try to re-download and install B2K pack. Between that, and the latest 'update', I'm hopeful I'll be able to play all B2K maps etc.
