Derrick Johnson, Surtain, Law and our top 2 draft picks...

What do you think?

Assume that the only way to draft Derrick Johnson is to trade our #1 and #2 picks with nothing in return.

Assume that in order to obtain Surtain, we must sign him to a big $ contract and trade our #2 to Miami.

Assume that we must sign Ty Law before the draft (and before he's fully healed) and for a contract at least as big as he has on the table today (but less than Surtain's).

how about this a trade for surtain

then trade this years #1 and #5 round pick in the '05 draft plus a 2nd or 3rd in the '06 draft.

I'd actually also like the Sign Law AND keep our 1 and 2 scenario.
Law CB
Pollack DE / Blackstock LB
Justin Miller CB
or
TRADE DOWN
Law CB
Surtain CB (with 2nd)
Ware/Blackstock LB
Fred Gibson WR/ Marlin Jackson DB

...and what are you trading all these picks for?

Hammock Parties 03-27-2005 03:00 PM

I'd rather use our #1 on Shawn Merriman and trade the #2 for Surtain.

for premium talent we need kc's window of oppurtunity is closing fast- Oline is aging , Gonzo isn't getting any younger, and at his age I'm starting to worry about Green's knees.

Why? As long as we have that line his health is going to be fine.

Shields is getting old the anchor of that O-line- it's this year or next . Then it's 5 years of maybe next year

Has anyone bothered to point out the trade value of our #2 is not high enough to move up enough places even with our #1 to get DJ.

1050+440 = 1490 which only gets us to a 9th slot in the first round maybe the 8th if Arizona wants to move down desperately.

Oh I agree. But I have said several times I believe Trent, Priest, T-Rich, Shields and Roaf are probably all gone after this year. Kennison too, maybe.

Where's the "Sign Ty Law and use our #1 and #2 picks" option?

Actually I pointed this out a few days ago, in a discussion about moving up to the #6 pick. This poll is based upon (though not explicitly stated) the fact that DJ will slide down to #9 allowing for such a trade to occur.

It's a "what if we were faced with the possiblity of getting DJ, then what" poll.

This thread was about DJ... Law, Sertain and the others are just the possible costs of getting DJ. I guess if you must, you can vote for #3 and consider Law as the FA.

It would basically be a protest vote though... :p

Mr. Laz 03-27-2005 06:05 PM

sign Ty Law
trade our second for Surtain

take BAA in the 1st round

Do you really think there is any chance we could afford both CB's?
