Announcement From SaveOurChiefs.com

SaveOurChiefs.com would like to inform our followers that out of respect to the Chiefs organization, coaches and most importantly the players, we have cancelled the Can Pioli Food Drive and airplane banner for tomorrow. Furthermore, we encourage fans to wear what they feel is appropriate to the game be it black, red, grey or whatever color you want to wear.

We ask that you do not carry any Fire Pioli signs into the stadium and just go to the game and be fan. Cheer for the players. Be respectful of them and what they go through on a day-to-day basis.

We feel that tomorrow's game is neither the proper place nor the proper time to continue these activities but rather tomorrow’s game should be a time for all fans to come together and help this team recover from a great tragedy.

While we are mired in a bad season with bad play and bad management, there are 52 guys on the field that just lost a friend. There are things WAY more important than football. Hug your loved ones and appreciate every breath you take. Life is too precious and way too short.

God Bless Chiefs Nation.

KCWolfman 12-01-2012 12:55 PM

Thank you.

Shogun 12-01-2012 12:57 PM

Good call guys

Deberg_1990 12-01-2012 12:59 PM

bevischief 12-01-2012 01:02 PM

Let me know if they don't make it happen I know most of them.

Rasputin 12-01-2012 01:02 PM

Prayers to the Chiefs family & fans.

This just sucks that this tragedy happened. Good job SOC to back down on this sad day. Nobody wins.

Prayers to Scott Pioli & Romeo Crennel I wouldn't want to be them right now.

KCWolfman 12-01-2012 01:03 PM

Something Marty posted on the original sticky as well:

"We ask that you do not carry any Fire Pioli signs into the stadium and just go to the game and be fan. Cheer for the players. Be respectful of them and what they go through on a day-to-day basis."

Let's show that Kansas City is a respectable community with heart and good intent.

teedubya 12-01-2012 01:04 PM

The right call. Good job.

Donger 12-01-2012 01:04 PM

The epitome of class. Bravo, gentlemen.

bevischief 12-01-2012 01:07 PM

Just be fans at this point. This is a shock to all of us.

Lumpy 12-01-2012 01:10 PM

I applaud the SOC for making the right choice to cancel out of respect for what took place today.

gblowfish 12-01-2012 01:10 PM

I agree whole heartedly with the OP.

Tomorrow KC's Chiefs fans will be in the national spotlight. Time to do what we've always done, been good fans, support this team, put the season and the BS aside, and show our team that we love them.

I've never been prouder to be a Chiefs fan than when we played the NYG the weekend after 9-11 at Arrowhead. Tomorrow will be another day to show what we are made of.

ChiefsCountry 12-01-2012 01:11 PM

Sounds good.

Go all out at the Colts game.

kaplin42 12-01-2012 01:14 PM

This is a good call. SOC remains a class act.

memyselfI 12-01-2012 01:16 PM

Good job, guys.

Raiderhater 12-01-2012 01:24 PM

The leadership of the movement has made right decision after right decision up to this point; I had no doubts they would do the same here.

Easy 6 12-01-2012 01:29 PM

Amen.

Smed1065 12-01-2012 01:30 PM

Great call.

displacedinMN 12-01-2012 01:30 PM

Class trumps all. Could something be brought to the stadium to help others on a day like this?

We could only hope for this... They asked to move the game but the NFL so far has said no.

Statement from the Kansas City Chiefs on Tomorrow’s Game vs. Carolina

Posted 9 minutes ago

PR Staff Kansas City Chiefs Public Relations Official Press Release Email @ChiefsPR

“After discussions between the league office, Head Coach Romeo Crennel and Chiefs team captains, the Chiefs advised the NFL that it will play tomorrow’s game vs. the Carolina Panthers at its originally scheduled time.”

Mr. Flopnuts 12-01-2012 03:17 PM

I will be attending my first game of the year tomorrow. Terrible timing, but I feel the need to come up for this one. Luckily, Barry has offered me a free ticket, so I just have to pay the $100 in gas and parking. Boss won't be happy, but family first. I love SOC, and everything being done, but I will be wearing red tomorrow. Life is more important than games.

cabletech94 12-01-2012 03:35 PM

once again, SOC, doing the right thing.

you guys can't be complimented enough.

thanks.

Good call. This just goes to show that Chiefs fans are without a doubt the best fans any team could hope for. Today, I'm proud to be a Chiefs fan

Hog's Gone Fishin 12-01-2012 04:35 PM

I hope the stadium is loaded . A sell out and the fans are bringing it for the players, just like the good old days. Show everyone what we're made of !

Good. It's the right thing to do.

I have not posted in quite some time but.....

THIS....

As much as we fans can show that we can unite together against management, tomorrow is a time to unite together FOR the team. Honor the players and stand behind them. It could be an even more powerful message for change than all of the cries for change.

Mother****erJones 12-01-2012 05:23 PM

 GO CHIEFS!!! RIP Jovan and Kassandra Perkins. We'll do this right in memory of you.

This organization has made the right choice. I would hope Eric Winston would be notifed by personnel mail of this choice.

Bub 12-02-2012 08:12 AM

It's time to stop SOC all together. You want to save the Chiefs? Get out there and cheer them on. The message has been sent and if you continue, you will just make things worse. The organization, the fans, and the team need to heal as one. How in the hell can you assholes vote for the Chiefs to lose today?

vailpass 12-02-2012 08:13 AM

Straight up class move. Right thing to do. Best to Chiefs nation on what has to be an incredibly difficult day.

I'm going to avoid getting into an argument out of respect for this thread. I feel terrible for pioli and rac emotionally and hope they can move on from a traumatic situation. But the next home game is plenty of time to heal. This is a terrible tragedy, but it doesn't change the original objective of soc which is to demand accountability. I feel bad for pioli, but what he went through is separate from what he has done in performance as a general manager.

REDHOTGTO 12-02-2012 08:50 AM

good decision, thanks

Marty Mac Ver 2.0 12-02-2012 09:33 AM

Bub,
welcome to the planet. first, we're not assholes. two, I suggest you re-read everything. We've called off the dogs for today. We're going to evaluate how we go forward and in what capacity. So you can either understand or continue to name call. Got it Bub?

Mile High Mania 12-02-2012 10:47 AM

SOC should start up a scholarship fund for the little girl left without parents now because of the incident yesterday.

JFC You don't even understand the SOC movement.

ForeverChiefs58 12-02-2012 06:55 PM

I hate our GM and coach in the way they both have set the franchise back in their ineptitude.

I do however feel emotionally sorry for anyone that had to experience what they went through yesterday.

I am glad of the classy and easy call not to fly a banner.

But when I first saw a pic of Pioli looking up at the sky today at the game, I couldn't help but think, "Pioli's wondering about SOC"

I am not trying to be a dick, but at times like this, I can't help but think about the many kids who lose parents that weren't already millionaires. Financially, I hope she is already taken care of.

I have no idea how much money he left behind, and I really don't mean to be insensitive but wasn't he driving a Bentley?

Regardless, I think a good positive idea to come from this tragedy would be raising money for domestic abuse or mental illness.

Do you mean because he was looking for a plane? We can't fly the banners that close to the start of the game. I would think he knows that. I also am pretty sure he has people checking here and knows we called stuff off.

No, I know they can't fly that close and I am sure he was just watching the fly over, it was just a caption that first comes to mind.
