Nice inside outside play ther.e

black angus 11-16-2010 03:41 PM

Spradling has really played a solid, intelligent game so far.
21-16 JP has played about 4 minutes top.

Los Pollos Hermanos 11-16-2010 03:42 PM

Jake's played what 2 minutes? I'm impressed with the team around him.

And Spradling is gonna be a beast of a 4 year player.

Not bad considering Pullen's PT.

Shocking that your anchor-ass university was dragging down the server. I'm sure the mods have options, though.

If KSU hangs on, this will be a very impressive victory because they're missing of their best players for disciplinary purposes, and Pullen stupidly put himself in such foul trouble in the first that he, essentially, didn't play.

DaKCMan AP 11-16-2010 04:54 PM

Dec. 18 should be fun.

Exciting to see JHR, Spradling and Martavious playing well. Pullen in foul trouble and Kelly on the bench actually helps develop these guys that much quicker....all in all really good game for Cats. There was a 5 minute stretch when they pulled away that they played great ball. Great defense, boxing out, under control on the break and taking advantage of the defense (lob to Jamar). Fun to see. Now Wally, CK and Russell need to pull their heads out.

Blick 11-16-2010 06:34 PM

Good win considering Kelly didn't play and Pullen's foul trouble.

We look like shit on offense though. Wally is so timid it makes me crazy.

Pullen
His being out was a blessing in disguise. Let the team get awesome minutes and experience against a ranked (and most likely) hopeful tourney team. He still looks great, picking pockets and draining shots. If Spradling takes over the point (now that he looks very capable of playing the position) Pullen can do some real damage from the 2, ala last year.

Spradling
Wow. Great coming out game from the freshman. I wasn't the only one who didn't know what to expect from the pizza faced bobble head, but WS played like a frigging MAN out there today. Very intelligent (mid court charge), Good eye for the open man, good ball control. He has a nice three, but his selection needs to get better.

Macgruder
He has a really nice shot and looks to be the biggest 3 point threat outside of Pullen. Very impressed with his presence inside and rebounding.

Judge
Still waiting for him to play like the monster he can be. He needs to be getting more rebounds and banging down low. It looks to me like he is playing a second slower than he should be, and like he is somewhat apprehensive. Get nasty, man!

Henriquez-Roberts
He is flashing. I am happy to see him playing more aggressive (take notes, Wally). I hope he continues to develop - he's doing a good, good job so far.

Russell
Surprisingly our biggest liability so far. He has the talent to be playing much better. Maybe he should be sitting next to CK....

Irving
If his three ball can become consistent.... along with Macgruder, Spradling and Pullen's... look the **** out. He was great at getting open tonight. He had a few silly fouls, and as he continues to get minutes, hopefully he wises up.

Asprilla
Needs to live up to his hype. He is playing pretty sloppy and is being kind of an idiot on D. Stupid fouls. Eat some damn space. Dunk the damn ball. Block some damn shots. Grab the damn rebound. He needs some more practice, and needs to have Frank on his ass in practice.

Samuels
Somewhat quieter than I expected. I would have liked to have seen him take stronger "leader" role with Pullen's absence. Still looked damn good finishing the ball though. He is a talented SOB.

Southwell
Make your damned shots.

Kelly
We need his ass in there. He needs to wise up and start working hard consistently. There were plenty of moments in this game where I thought, "Well, we certainly could have used those long ass arms right there."

Team
Good win against a ranked team, especially missing our keys. It's games like this that will help a ton come March. Glad we got a win - I'll be honest and say I was a little worried coming in to it, and more worried when Pullen got his 2nd and 3rd.

We showed that same heart we had last year, and as we grow, we will be a solid team all around. Good stuff, cats.

EMAW.

Will you be one of those KU dorks wearing their KU gear to a basketball game that doesn't involve KU? I love seeing them at the Sprint Center every year - it's hilarious.

Any updates on Curt & getting him back soon? Cause his first game action being Gonzaga wouldn't be good... It's better than him not playing in the CBE, but it's not good. Would definitely prefer him getting a crap Presbyterian game to get back into the swing of things.

Our best hope is this is just a "motivational technique" and will go a ways in to getting Curtis to be a better player.

On the other hand, there could be something else going on we don't know about.

I'd be surprised if he doesn't get some time in the next game. I'd think 2 games is penalty enough, but if HCFM doesn't.....I'm with Frank.

Dante84 11-16-2010 09:12 PM

Right, its not like we are dealing with a guy who has been an angel in the past.

Dude had issues at UConn. I had hoped it had worked its way out of his system (and maybe it has).

I would hate for CK to slide backwards from all the positives from last year. In the end, though, I'm with Frank on this as well.

Congrats Kitty Kats. I hope you guys are undefeated going into our first duel. It will only help hype the Sunflower Showdown. Why isn't Curtis Kelly playing lately?

Good win, Cats. I tried listening to it at work, but I missed something.

Here's what I know.
1.KSU down 3
2.VT technical
3. KSU up by 15

Looks like you can still score some points. Were there a lot of turnovers? I saw one guy post that the offense didn't look good.

Don't worry about Curt. He's a slow starter and a guy that needs his ass chewed to get going. When coming from the right motivator (Frank), he'll be the player he was late last year.

Offense looked fine. VT went zone most of the game, and ksu missed some open looks in the first half. They started knocking down shots in the second, and really started using the high post to collapse the D. Teams can struggle with zones early; dead legs creates poor shooting and tend to get stagnant. I was pretty happy especially considering our point guard and best shooter was on the bench.

Let me rephrase...Our offense was fine. It didn't "look" fine, to the average LBBIQ poster.
