My dad purchased this Mosin-Nagant for me for X-Mas. It was built in 1942 and has the Soviet flag stamped on the action and burned into the wood. I doubt it's ever been shot because it still had cosmolene in the action and no wear whatsoever. I shot it 6 times yesterday and it's deadly accurate. (Hit a soda can at 100 yards open sight)
In the case are two Ammo Pouches with 2 packages of original ammo still in the paper, a bayonet in perfect condition, an original oil can and a sling.
It's awesome to have a piece of WWI-WWII history. This weapon was built in Stalingrad, btw...
(According to all of the matching numbers anyway)

I have one and it kicks like a mule.

It looks like you have the long barreled version. I have the short barreled carbine.

Yep, very little kick. I'm shooting the load that was meant for it. (145 gr fmj)

I wrapped mine in paper towels, put it on the dash of the car & left it to bake.
I hate cosmolene, shit is so messy

Edit Im sure you know this/but just in case

That old Russian mil surplus ammo will eat your rifle. Clean the boar good, run a lil oil down her

More edit
You can lighten the trigger very easily with shims cut out of a pop-can or any thin metal.

Finished upgrading my AR today. I installed a quad rail yesterday and bought an adjustable foregrip and vortex strikefire red/green dot today.

7.62x54 ammo is common, and very cheap.

I buy it in 400 round cases but I reload for every gun I have except this one and I was wanting to reload my own.I don't reload for savings,I just enjoy it but it's way too expensive for that round.

Edit:I don't reload 7.62x39 (sks) either.

Oh, my mistake.

I am going to ask some reloading questions here in a few months, so any advice when the time comes will be appreciated.

Thanks. :)

Me to. everything but the 22s & Russians. Someday all that mill surplus ammo will be gone. I think

I know!I found some Lapua brass for it,but DAMN!!!! Guess I'll just stock up on it here and there as I can and hope for the best.

You might buy some Sellier & Belloit ammo - they're a Czech company IRRC, their ammo is pretty good and you should be able to reload their brass. They'll have 'russian short and long' stuff. Likewise, Serbian Prvi Partisan. I've had good luck shooting both. I don't reload, but my (fallible) memory tells me that these will work for you that do.
