Mark Schlereth can suck my baows

TOP OF THE MORNIN’ ESPN analyst thinks Chiefs’ offense will hold them back Schlereth M ark Schlereth, an NFL analyst for ESPN, sees one major roadblock for anyone dreaming of a big run by the Chiefs this fall: offense. “For so many years, the Chiefs have been a dominant running team,” said Schlereth, who was in Kansas City to call the Brigade’s playoff game Saturday on ESPN. “But you look at what’s happened to the offensive line. They lost Willie Roaf the year before. Now, they’ve lost Will Shields. They’ve lost Jordan Black, who wasn’t a great tackle, but he was the best they had. “And the best thing they have going right now, Larry Johnson, just had over 400 carries last year. That type of pounding worries me. I picked up one fumble in my career and tried to run with it and it felt like I got hit by 17 guys. That’s the last time I went to pick up a fumble. I can’t imagine running over 400 times.” Schlereth, a former offensive lineman with Washington and Denver, sees other issues with the Chiefs’ offense as well. “Damon (Huard) played great last year for a stretch,” Schlereth said. “But Tony Romo was great for five or six games and then the defensive coaches start taking away the things he did well. “There’s a reason Damon has been a backup in this league for 10 years.” Schlereth sees an overall lack of weaponry on the Chiefs’ offense. “In the passing game, obviously they’ve got Tony Gonzalez,” he said. “But I don’t see the weapons elsewhere. Samie Parker and Eddie Kennison, I don’t mean any disrespect, but they’re just guys. They’re guys on somebody’s roster.” The Chargers are still the team to beat in the West. “After them, the Chiefs and Denver will be fighting it out to be 9-7 or 8-8 and maybe a playoff spot,” he said. “Roc” Schlereth Schlereth also has a recurring role on the soap opera “Guiding Light.” Schlereth plays a detective named “Roc Hoover.” So far, Schlereth said he hasn’t found many women throwing themselves at him because of his acting career. “Part of that’s because they already throw themselves at me because I’m on ESPN,” he joked. LJ for ESPY Though I’ve never quite been sure the value of an ESPY, Chiefs stud Larry Johnson is up for one as the “Best NFL Player.” LJ was nominated along with Drew Brees (Saints), Peyton Manning (Colts), Jason Taylor (Dolphins), LaDainian Tomlinson (Chargers) and Brian Urlacher (Bears). Mason’s next step Former Kansas and Minnesota Gophers football coach Glen Mason apparently is being considered for a game-analyst position with the Big Ten Network. |
Cant really disagree with anything he has to say. The whole Offense atm is kind of a big question mark.

Samie Parker is less than a guy.

Although the whole Marino and Brady thing may have had something to do with the "career backup" deal. Bob Dole has consistently said he won't be shocked if we win no more than 6 games this season. |
Cant disagree with him to much on this.. Acutally he is spot on.. And IF Huard is the starter, You can be asure that we are setting back the franchise another 2-3 years....
Huard isnt taking us anywhere.... |

I'm not really bothered by his comments. Our O-line will have 3 new starters, the QB situation is a question mark, and we don't have probowl caliber WR. I think he made two mistakes in his analysis:
1) When evaluating the o-line this year, you can't really keep using the Roaf point. We played without him last year, LJ still ran for 1700 yards and we made the playoffs. The Chiefs have moved on. 2) You can't argue that Black was not that good and call it a negative that we lost him. Did he just miss that the Chiefs signed McIntosh? Did he notice that Shields' play deteriorated over the last 2 years? Did he notice that Welbourne was a decent RT for us, but his best position is guard? I think Herm and the Chiefs like the fact that they are getting no respect and are flying under the radar. The key will be the Chiefs ability to run the ball well and stop the run. If they can do that, they will win alot of games because they will control the clock. |
I have trouble taking anyone seriously that thinks losing Jordan Black is worse then signing Damion McIntosh. While Damion is far from being a Willie Roaf, he also isn't any worse the Black. I also like how he didn't even mention that out first round pick was a WR when listing off our WR group.
Oh well. I can't say that our Offense doesn't scare me. |
