***THE OFFICIAL WINTER STORM Q PANIC THREAD***

It looks like they are calling for upwards of a foot of snow from Wed night until Thursday night. Let the panic and mad rushes to Wal-Mart begin.

Ceej 02-18-2013 02:54 PM

6-12" predicted in Topeka.

This weather is bad for the hardwood floorin' bidness.

Easy 6 02-18-2013 02:59 PM

People in the midwest panic like a mfer about snow, completely forget how to drive etc.

I really started noticing it after moving back from alaska.

Come to Nashville where the threat, not actual snowfall just the threat, of snow will shut the schools down.

I think that's happened here once or twice, and I swear there's a correlation between cloudiness and traffic.

I can work from home, so don't even care any more... during the first snow this year (a couple inches), I noticed Google maps said my 7-10 minute commute would take 28 minutes, which was all I needed to stay home.

alpha_omega 02-18-2013 03:10 PM

Katie Horner moved to St. Louis...no panic here.

Oh yeah, i spent a winter in Clarksville, you're exactly right.

Mizzou_8541 02-18-2013 03:20 PM

Is it supposed to get bad? All I heard was rain turning to snow maybe.

6-12 right now for the KC area. Icey mix a bit to the south and over a foot closer to NE is predicted, but that can all change pretty quick.

teedubya 02-18-2013 03:25 PM

Apparently, I'm gonna be on WDAF tonight talking about how Social Media fuels the panic of large storms.

Feel free to offer up any talking points... i was going to be on air talking about the Burger King Anonymous hack... instead, it appears that I'll be discussing this weather thing instead.

tooge 02-18-2013 03:25 PM

Nice. I'm heading on a trout trip to the white river in Arkansas. Should be a fun drive.

ImAWalkingCorpse 02-18-2013 03:26 PM

Thursday is a vacation day for me anyway.

Pitt Gorilla 02-18-2013 03:30 PM

We've had similar snows for years. It's really not a big deal.

GloryDayz 02-18-2013 03:34 PM

They need to open up a text line where east coast types can send us coin to help us cope...

O.city 02-18-2013 03:37 PM

No shit, here in KC they are?

Dayze 02-18-2013 03:41 PM

we're gonig to die. Nice chatting with you all.

I'm off to get one more fap in before I check out.

BWillie 02-18-2013 03:47 PM

Please just rain instead. Please

The panic rate is correlated to the area's ability to adequately remove the snow. Places like central Texas don't even have snow plows and ways to remove it, so it just magnifies the risk.

TLO 02-18-2013 04:16 PM

I just read we are supposed to get 3 inches with rain turning into snow. That doesn't sound too awful?

TLO 02-18-2013 04:18 PM

Plus.....

Subaru + Snow = drifting fun and jizz for all

SPchief 02-18-2013 04:19 PM

Are we gonna get non stop coverage on CNN?

Not supposed to get anything here. Maybe some ice.

Thank God I don't watch the channel she moved to, just in case.

Dayze 02-18-2013 04:38 PM

Katie has this as a 80% chance of certain doom, with a good possibility of crabs.

Small bullet. More than enough for weathergasms.

bevischief 02-18-2013 04:39 PM

Already have about 12 inches of snow. Now try 60 plus mile a hour with blowing snow on top of that.

We're supposed to get 6-12 inches here in Flagstaff, AZ on Tuesday into Wednesday. My wife is getting 15-20 inches nightly.

The humidity level in Katie's yoga pants is nearing 100% with accumulation around the dew point, causing bonermetric pressure in men everywhere to decrease.

Eh, just get yourselves some strap-on chains from tirechains.com, you'll be fine with those. I'm surprised more people don't have them. On and off in a minute, cheap, get you out of trouble spots to a plowed road. You'll be maneuvering around stuck fools.

I feel like people like to panic once in a while. Deep down they enjoy having something to freak out and prepare for. I'm not really sure why people feel the need to rush to the store to get supplies for 12" of snow but they do.

I hit the liqour store first. There's enough food in the freezer to sustain, and hell, the snow provides water. The Coleman lantern and stove is good enough for the other basics.

Imon Yourside 02-18-2013 05:55 PM

No matter how bad it gets, at least it won't ever be this bad...

They've been lowering the totals for metro KC all day. Looks like this may be a bust for us. Central KS and Nebraska are going to get dumped on though.

Yeah, it looks like snow totals are down, but we are moving into that damn icy mix range.

Buehler445 02-19-2013 02:59 PM

I'm actually trying to get a bunch of N put down before the moisture. Going to be a long night.

I dunno weather.com is now showing it worse...from 70% chance of snow to 100% chance of HEAVY SNOW..Oh noz...I hope they're wrong. :D

BlackHelicopters 02-19-2013 04:15 PM

What is this "snow" many speak about, Bwana?

KS Smitty 02-19-2013 04:39 PM

"Supercast" is predicting almost 18" in Manhattan. We haven't had a snow like this in a long time (if it pans out).

HonestChieffan 02-19-2013 05:07 PM

No one in New York gives a **** about our snow.
