Trailer for Ridley Scott's Alien prequel leaked

Terrible footage but here is a good description:

<iframe src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/3idSf4q2fVI" allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="360" width="480"></iframe>

Quote:

  • The trailer starts with the 20th Century FOX logo. You hear a transmission. A woman (which I assume to be Rapace) is saying "...got to stop... was wrong.. so wrong...I'm so sorry...". You can hear the last part very clearly.
  • The first scene shows a spaceship (similar to the one seen in the first leaked trailer) flying towards a planet on the background.
  • Next you see is the surface of a planet and some sort of facility. It kinda looks like a Lunar base to me.
  • Now they show this scene from the Comic-con footage.
  • You can see the film's title forming in the background during most of the trailer. Pretty much like in the introductory scene of Alien.
  • Next is the Ampule room. They show it off from all different angles and finally a close up of the ampules. Suddenly you hear a high pitch scream. It's not human. It sounds like if it was from a facehugger. Then there's a lot of smoke from what seems to be acid corrosion. They show a guy in a spacesuit. He's alone. Screaming and putting his hands over his helmet. It looks just like the Kane/derelict scene in Alien.
  • Now they show the same spaceship from earlier. Same shot as in the first leaked trailer. Flying towards what seems to be a different planet in the background.
  • The next 2 scenes are from the comic-con footage. 1, 2.
  • Now they show Vickers running across a hallway. Same scene as in the first leaked trailer.
  • Next seems to me someone in a spacesuit. Driving a futuristic vehicle in some desert like surface. Heading towards some structure or facility in the middle of nowhere at full speed.
  • Impressive shot of the Iceland waterfalls.
  • Next is this scene from the comic-con footage. They seem to be shooting at something or someone but they don't show it.
  • Next you see is some grey-black serpent like creature. Jumping ala facehugger from some sort of grey-goo cavity. Now they show the whole scene. There's two guys in their spacesuits. One lying on the ground (it seems to be the impregnated guy from earlier) and another one checking on him. The creature jumps from what seems to be the insides of the previous impregnated guy to the other one.
  • Now they show someone with a expression of pain. The guy is still in his spacesuit and someone appears to be holding him in their arms.
  • Now you can see a device or hologram of some sort. It looks like an atom or a planet. I'm not sure if it's a planet or just some molecular structure tbh. The center of the hologram is a single sphere so it should be a planet system. Probably the coordinates to some other world.
  • Now this shot from comic-con.
  • Next is a spaceship being destroyed while in the air.
  • One guy in a spacesuit pouncing at someone else while holding something. It looks like it's going to hurt.
  • Next is the space jockey room. Same as in the Comic-con footage. The center piece of the plate opens and the space jockey chair rotates out of the ground.
  • Next scene shows off a very inflated belly. Like if the person was pregnant but there's something bigger than a chestbuster moving inside. Seems to be Rapace's.
  • Idris Elba yells while aboard of what seems to be the Prometheus.
  • The sandstorm + Rapace spacesuit scene. Same as in the first leaked trailer. Close up of Rapace. She gets hit by the storm and she falls down a pit. It's the scene depicted in the official still released around comic-con.
  • Now you can clearly read Prometheus. The whole title has formed in the background. They show it for a few seconds.
  • Now a close up of Rapace's face. She's in pain. It seems to be the same scene as in the first leaked trailer. The one with the green lasers scanning her belly.
  • Now they show someone in a spacesuit looking at the derelict in the surface of a planet with clear skies.
  • The words "They went looking"
  • The derelict again. It's vertical to the ground. It would be impossible to enter it from the same place as in Alien.
  • The words "for earth's beginning"
  • Still on the same planet. The derelict (or something really big) seems to be falling down from above. The guy in the spacesuit is running away now. Trying not to get crushed.
  • The words "what they found"
  • They now show two guys running away.
  • The words "could be its the end"
  • They show the same guys again. Running away from what appears to be a huge gigerish structure (it feels like it's moving but it's hard to tell). Perhaps the derelict in flight. There's a lot of smoke. What appears to be debris on fire are falling from above. They keep running away from it.
  • The trailer ends.
  • The music reminded me a lot of the one from Inception (the 'horns sounds'). But mixed with what appears to be the music from the original trailer for Alien. Same music during all the trailer.

That's standard in hollywood. The capitalizations aren't random. Usually they indicate something major within the film. Character or place.

loochy 12-01-2011 10:54 AM

I don't know why they didn't just nuke it from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.

Hollywood is ****ing pathetic.

I wish I could submit a script where The Little Rascals played the part of 'Children of the Corn'. Andy Dick could be Malichia and Spot the dog could play Cujo where they somehow got into a fight with the 'Killer Clowns from Outerspace' and it ended in some weird dance off Glee style.

Because it seems that's what their going for it at this point. "How stupid can we get"?

Prometheus: trailer analysis

Ryan Lambie

We’ve gawped and gasped at the first full trailer for Prometheus several times now, so what does it all mean? Here’s our analysis of that tantalising footage…

Published on Dec 22, 2011

Screaming. People running in terror down narrow corridors. An unseen, probably horrifying unearthly presence. Ridley Scott may be at pains to distance Prometheus from the Alien franchise, but the first full trailer for his belated return to sci-fi is evidently cut from the same sci-fi horror cloth.

As good as the trailers for The Dark Knight Rises and The Hobbit have been, neither have encouraged quite so much frame-by-frame analysis on our part – and as we’ve picked over every tantalising shot in the promo released yesterday, more unexpected things leap out at us from the darkness.

First, the obvious: the connections to 1979’s Alien are absolutely everywhere. The slowly building type, ship design and angle and lighting of certain shots all directly reference Scott’s earlier film. The alien itself may be conspicuously absent, but Prometheus looks far more like a prequel than Scott had let on.

The trailer opens, ominously enough, with what sounds like a panic-stricken cry for help into a radio. Judging by the accent, it’s safe to say this female voice is that of Elizabeth Shaw (Noomi Rapace). “I was wrong. I was so, so wrong,” she appears say over the radio static. And then the really interesting stuff begins.

A spaceship – presumably the Prometheus – arrives on an alien world. We know from earlier interviews and synopses that it carries a group of scientists – among them Shaw, Vickers (Charlize Theron), David (Michael Fassbender), and Janek (Idris Elba) – who’ve been sent to the other side of the cosmos in search of the origins of mankind.

JD10367 12-23-2011 06:50 PM

I also ran this trailer for myself last night--like "Hobbit", it's actually not playing on any film right now--and it both looks good and is definitely a prequel to "Alien". As mentioned, the typeface and letter-by-letter fade-in is a direct copy of "Alien", and I think I even heard the theme music (sounds like whale song). Plus the horseshoe ship, and a quick shot of the large alien seated at what looks like a gun placement or telescope mount. Should be a good flick.

Buck 12-23-2011 07:28 PM

Awesome. I'm tired of every single trailer using that BRRRRMMMM music though.

Easy 6 12-24-2011 05:45 PM

Whoa, this sounds like its going to be ****ing awesome.

Will have to see this on the big screen.

Deberg_1990 12-25-2011 07:49 AM

I have zero interest in MIB3. Looks like nothing but a tired cash grab. Will Smith needs to aim higher.

Everything else you listed yes. Ill add in Pixars Brave which looks really solid.

I'm really looking forward to Prometheus, Avengers and Abraham Lincoln Vampire Killer (after reading the book). Hopefully MIB3 will be entertaining, I'll hold out for reviews on that one.

As for Dark Knight, I'll probably go see it at some point, but I didn't care for the last one that much.

What is popular right now though? Seems to me that book adaptations are all the rage (I believe the Hunger Games was a book first, as was John Carter).

Speaking of the Hunger Games, I told my kids to get ready - we're not gonna SEE the movie, we're gonna LIVE the movie. :)

Well, anything with a pre-sold built in audience awareness is HOT right now. Whether that be a book series, tv show, comic books, remakes or any other medium really. Mainstream hollywood loves to play it safe.

Also, anything with young female appeal in "genre" work especially hot. Young women in "genre" roles have long been overlooked until Twilight really.

John Carter had a pre-sold audience but the books were old, the marketing was botched, no stars and no young female appeal.

The name "John Carter" doesn't exactly jump up and grab you, either, if you've never heard of it before (which I hadn't). Doesn't make me think neat new sci-fi movie - it makes me think accountant who lives down the street.

Plus, there's a general conception that movies released this time of year suck - otherwise, they'd be released during the summer season or around Christmas.

Well the first book was released in 1912 and the last in 1943, so there's not an immediate, mainstream hook there...

That used to be the case and still somewhat is (Studios hold back their best stuff for Summer and Christmas) but not as much anymore.

Look how huge Hunger Games was. Really the only times anymore that i can think of where BIG movies are not opening is early January, Late April and Early September.

And this year it makes sense for Hunger Games to come out now, given how crowded the summer season will be. The Avengers, Dark Knight Rises, Prometheus, MIBIII, Spiderman, Total Recall, Expendables 2, etc. Hunger Games would have done ok, but wouldn't have had nearly the success if it had been lost among the crowd.

Perhaps a chestburster.

I think we will, but I don't think they'll be prevalent. Pretty sure in the very least we're going to see how they came to be.

Spoiler!

Some people think there's a xenomorph head in this shot. Right where the arm and hand are.

Would it be such a tragedy if Ridley Scott did something totally unique and awesome that has NOTHING to do with Alien?

I love Alien. I love Aliens. I own them both and view them regularly. That's it. It's fine to let it go. A quick homage would be neat, but I became FAR more interested in this after I figured out it wasn't an Alien prequel. I like Ridley Scott. Safe sucks... I want something new. I'm very intrigued by this.
