Perhaps we should require all posts to go through some sort of mod hotline. You have information you wish to share, but what is the proper venue? New thread? Appended to existing thread? Dig up an old thread?

So confusing. . .

Better to run each and every post on CP firsthand before a mod.

BTW, as this apparatus does not presently exist, I hope and earnestly pray that this is the proper place to post this.

When did this place become such a bleeding vag? Amazing......

It's really simple, actually... If you don't catch our attention by bumping several threads in a short amount of time (one of the "rules" in the FAQ), we'll never notice. And if you bump a thread for a good reason, it's a non-issue. And if you bump one thread every once in a while for the LOLs, we probably still won't notice until it becomes a habit.

Like we've said 84 times in the past 24 hours, you practically have to beg to get yourself banned, which is a non-issue for pretty much everyone on the board.

It doesn't mean you need a formal "Bump Reason: ..." at the top of your post or a mod is going to ban you on a whim if you randomly bump a thread with nothing more than 'lol'. All you need is a good reason to bump a thread... and you probably don't even need that as long as you don't make a habit of bumping threads for no reason.... and he clarified the OP to say as much in that thread...

No shit. Bumping threads is bannable? And that's not the mods. That's the people talking. So sad. If you don't like someone bumping threads, just keep posting in the ones you want to be on the front page. The only thing that threads like this, or making it public, is going to do is tempt more people to "test fate" that normally would never think about it. And then the problem only gets bigger.

That happens when there are "OMG, (user) was banned?!?" threads, too, so what's your solution? Is there a perfect level of transparency?

I don't know. People seem to have progressed from making mults to bitching whenever they get back to messaging people to have them start threads for them. I'm probably partly to blame. Chiefsplanet Crew on FB has introduced several users to each other on a site besides this one, which increases the odds of them talking someone into starting a thread for them.

Personally, I say don't ban people. If someone starts bumping old threads, I say just move the threads someplace else. If no one responds to them, then delete them. I know that's a little more complicated than pressing the ban button though.

Seriously, I'm not complaining about you guys this time. :) I just can't believe that enough people have bitched about something so trivial that they've made the mods feel like there's no other choice than to ban those responsible.

Nobody really wants to seen as on the same side of something as Frazod.

You will be better at making impressions upon other people in this world if you don't start with this before trying to make your point.

Maybe frazod needs to read my post, too, or maybe he was just giving you shit... but, either way, his interpretation of the rule or reasons for posting that has nothing to do with the how the rules are actually being enforced. And even if there was evidence that you were testing the waters, bumping one thread isn't going to get you banned.

Well, this sort of puts the lie to the notion that it's only the real troublemakers that are going to have to deal with this, and also to the idea that it's only in really extreme situations.

Actually thankfully we have mods that institute some sort of control... Otherwise this place would fall apart. Just the way it is...

Immaturity rules so many lifes around here. Its truly sad.

That creates unnecessary work... I've deleted posts in the past when someone bumps a thread or two, in order to send it back into oblivion, but we aren't going to sit here and babysit someone who is bumping old threads. If it's a matter of bumping a thread like "last post wins," then sure, we can just lock it or move it to another forum... but, the bans aren't for single thread bumps.

If someone has already bumped 3 or 4 threads, you think we should sit here and deal with each thread until they decide to stop? It doesn't annoy me as much as it does others, since there are plenty of other threads I never click on, but I also don't want to log in and see 10 old threads that were bumped for the LOLs, or deal with taking each one off the front page.

And if someone is begging to be banned, we try to accommodate... we're very reasonable in that way.

It has happened...often in fact when one user can reshape the whole front page of this board with complete bullshit. Just on a few posts.
