Reid seems like a clear improvement on what they had and his presence meant the end of Pioli (the biggest benefit of his hiring), but the Eagles have been a complete underachieving shitshow for a few years now. There's a reason Philly badly wanted him out. He certainly wouldn't have been my #1 choice, but I'll accept it for now if it means real change.

I could see how they've underachieved the last few years he was here.

Im wondering whether the Eagles underachievements are due to Reid just being burned out or simply because he was there too long and his presence just wore out over time?

It's hard to tell. I think 14 years of coaching can burn a person out. That's my biggest fear with this hire.

Well I'm not thrilled. I how we didn't hire Norv Turner II.

Why is he getting $7M per season? Can ANYBODY explain this explosion in salary? Isn't that a bit outrageous, we're giving a fired coach 3x more than any of our prior coaches ever earned? (I think Vermeil was in the 2-3M range and he was coming off a Super Bowl)

MagicHef 01-04-2013 11:23 AM

What, exactly is the downside? The Chiefs getting worse?

Do you have an answer or is this your best effort?

It's the going rate for a HC. The market sets the price. It's Clark's money so, again, why do you care?

displacedinMN 01-04-2013 11:30 AM

Only whitlock could put a downer on today.

With his logic-we should get Jeff George as QB

There is a downside.

It's a good signing, but only if they don't get stubborn about the QB position, if they get the DC pick right (critical), and if Clark has learned his lesson and not settle for years of mediocrity. The downside is if we repeat the mistakes of the past and give Reid too much power, settle for playoffs instead of super bowls, and let experienced coaches/front office guys pick their cronies instead of picking coaches/players based on their abilities.

But I'm going to give them that chance to prove otherwise. I'm just glad to bring a winning culture back.

and with that....

Whitlock is no longer loved and his cock gobbling can now end.
