Being a Zelda nut since I was a wee lad I've always purchased a Nintendo system when the first Zelda has come out for that system. Albeit an HD remake of Wind Waker, I decided with the $50 price cut that I would take the plunge and get the system last Friday. I've spent almost a week with it and I have to say I'm pretty impressed.

Leading up to my purchase I felt bad buying the Wii U, thinking that I'd be disappointed. There's an internet hatred for the system, saying that it doesn't have the titles, it doesn't have the hardware that'll compete with the PS4 and XBone. I did my research before buying the system via reviews, youtube videos, and just overall discussion about the pluses and minuses of it all.

The absolute best pro for this system is something that no other system has for the price point that Nintendo is putting out there. The Gamepad's ability to switch between TV and Gamepad with the press of a button. This is a fabulous perk to this system.

Sony is trying to implement it with the PS4 and Vita coming up but in all honesty, it's too rich a price for the ability. I'll take a $300 price point over a $600 ($400 for the PS4, $200 for the Vita) price point any day of the week. The Vita is it's own system, granted, but what are the games you'd happily throw down for? Plus, the ability for the Vita being a second screen is limited and will be for awhile.

With the WiiU you can do this with every single Wii U game out there. Here's a list, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Off-TV_Play. The fact that my fiance can watch whatever show she wants and I can lay on the couch or in the bedroom and still play Zelda, Pikmin 3 or NSMBU. It's just such a nice thing to have, and all you have to take with you is the console when you want to travel which is slightly bigger than the Wii was. Set it up in a nearby room and you're ready to game on the gamepad.

I think they need to make a better Gamepad though. It's a little clunky with alot of extra space you know it could live without. It needs better battery life, this isn't a negotiation, the fact you can buy a third party Nyko battery pack that doubles the life of the device at the expense of a weightier gamepad is unacceptable. You're just allowing third party to make money on something you should be making money on. The fact that Nintendo made a promise that the Wii U can support 2 Gamepads at a time and they don't sell the Gamepad by itself says to me they're making a new gamepad. I'm just hoping that it's smaller, better battery life and maybe a better screen. Nintendo has never splurged on their hardware, but I think that besides games that are out now or coming out this winter you've gotta put something into it.

I'm not a Nintendo fanboy, I just grew up with them, I don't want to see them go down in flames even though it'd be better for my wallet if they just third partied all their titles. I still have my PS3 and Xbox 360, and now my WiiU that plays all my old Wii games. I will get an XBone or PS4 next Spring/Summer for their titles that the Wii U won't carry. I love this system compared to my old Wii, I hate the nunchuk controller gimmick that was prevelant with the Wii and I've always much more preferred a controller. Nintendo will go the way of the dinosaur eventually, even faster if they don't start putting money into their hardware and third party support, but for right now I'm really enjoying my WiiU and it's place amongst my other game systems. Flame away.

Best thing about Nintendo is their plethora of family games. I can sit down with my kids anytime and play Lego city undercover, Mario, Nintendoland, etc......

It's not a bad system for the price, but yes, the games have been slow to come out, but that's starting to change. Hardcore gamers always give Nintendo crap because it's aimed at the family market, not them.

I didn't think much of the original WII personally, but the family thing is a good point. Haven't had the chance to try out the newer one.

Snagged Wii Party U and Lego Marvel Superheros this week. Winning! Starting to come out with some sweet games.

You'll have to tell me how Lego Marvel goes. If there was one Lego game I think I'd enjoy most it's that one.

Only played a few levels with my son so far. But its quite excellent. Has pretty much every Marvel character and a decent story line.

Yeah, with Super Mario 3D World now out it's worth it.

Mario Kart, Donkey Kong and Smash Bros. are supposed to be out soon for the U as well.

I want a damn Kid Icarus game for Wii U. Also a good new Metroid game.

Think I'm taking the plunge on one of these here very soon...SMB3DW is a syst seller IMO and I want to play WW HD, Lego City, Monster Hunter, etc.

Not to mention a new DK game on the horizon and Mario Kart and SSB.

Lego City Undercover and Lego Marvel Superheroes are both excellent.

I think I'm just gonna go with the Wind Waker bundle and buy 3D World.

Can't take it anymore...picking one up tomorrow.

Different plan of attack though...gonna go with the NSMBU/SLU bundle and pick up 3D World, Wind Waker, and Monster Hunter 3.

Also saw that Nintendo's site is selling refurb WiiMotion Plus remotes with the nunchuck for $20...that's a steal.

The Wii U looks to be THE perfect compliment to my PS4...all my gaming boxes ticked.

Awesome. Oh, if you play with a family or a bunch of friends, Wii Party U is a blast.

Picked up the Mario & Luigi bundle...3D World and Wind Waker HD.

Oh yes...I'm set. PS4 might collect some dust for a while lol.

Also my refurb Wii Motion Plus remote and nunchuk arrived today from Nintendo...can't tell the difference between it and a new one.

At $20 for both that's a helluva deal.

I'm thinking of getting a Wii u. I haven't played Mario or Zelda in over 10 years. I think that's long enough. Never owned a Wii. There's Nothing on the next gen consoles that's a must buy for me yet. The games I want that are coming out are coming out for current gen as well.

Probably a good time to get one now or soon.

The irony of the Wii being a huge hit and the Wii U flopping is that the Wii U is a much better system.

Not really Wi U related, but Skylanders is freaking genius. Been playing with my youngest the last two snow days. It's a lot of fun. Marketing concept/business model is badass. I think it's kicking the shit out of the Disney version, which I've heard blows.

Plus I can play all the old Wii games on it. Its really not a bad deal right now. Ps4 xbox1 have no must haves for me. And not for a while. Watchdogs is the only game I'm looking forward too and I can get that on 360. Good time to get a next gen will be next holiday season.

Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, Xenoblade Chronicles, and The Metroid Prime Trilogy are the must haves from the Wii Console, imho.

Without the Gamecube controller, I'd wait to purchase the Wii U versions of Mario Kart and Super Smash Bros.

Super Mario 3D World is such a blast to play and NES Remix is genius.

I think im going to get one by next month i hope. Ithink ill get the deluxe version, then get the Zelda and Mario games for the Wii work my way then maybe a price drop on some games,or just start a gamefly for a month or 2.

I wish there was a real Zelda game for the Wii U. Windwaker does nothing for me.

I havent even played Twilight Princess yet. I havent touched anything Nintendo in ages. I miss that cartoony mario/zelda gaming. Games now days are usually on the serious /realistic side. Not all but most. Even RPG's are like that.

Totaly agree. Son and I have been playing Skylanders since Christmas. It is fun that we can both play but damn we are racking up the bill in guys we have bought.

We've had all three of the games (Skylanders, Giants, and now Swap Force they just got for Christmas). Swap Force is definitely the most robust and challenging of the three, but the load times on it are somewhat ridiculous (though maybe they're fairly normal by today's gaming standards, as I don't really game much).

I play through with him on easier settings without worrying about completion, then after he goes to bed, I play through on the hardest setting trying to fully complete each level. It's ridiculous.

We're loving the wii u - Super Maro Bros U is great - so is Nintendo Land

We also Switched to Disney Infinity for the Wii U but still have the old 2 Skylanders for 360 - Although its $30 off the Swapforce Pack at Gamestop this weekend....

Disney Infinity is Great, its smart and offers a unique experience compared to skylanders - its hard to compare the two games directly except for that you bring in charterers with the pad

I'm waiting for the new Zelda and New Donkey Kong to Drop - its going to be a good year for the WiiU

im in, i think im going to get the digital copy of the game though. Remember with every copy sold until the end of may, you get a free game from the Eshop. well, only 4 to choose from, but they are good games.

Ill be playing as soon as it downloads late thursday night.

It will probably be a slow download like Donkey Kong was. That was a freaking 4 hour download, but it was also 12 gigs. MK8 is only 5. So, here's to hoping, im playing by 11pm pst. lol

you still will get the downloadable game for free, but you still need to do the club nintendo thing. Can wait a few days so the website isnt completely hammered.

Im trying to 3 star all the tracks. Its gonna take a little while to do! got 1 more curcuit left in the 50CC and a few in the 100cc. 150cc is tough i heard.

Well I got a wiiu and a new PC. So I just eliminated the Xbox one and ps4 lol. Its working out nice so far.

I love MarioKart so much that I would have bought a WiiU if I didn't get one at launch.

Game is fun as hell. My 4 year old loves it.

Nostalgia is a huge reason I bought one and I'm glad my son is enjoying it as much as I did/do.

Its truly an underrated system. There are some great games for it, with great graphics. Not enough of them, but its getting there.

Damn, 100cc gets tough now. I was in first place then you get belted with red shells and all of a sudden your in 5th. lol. Not always, but sometimes. lol

Finally got setup with a Club Nintendo account this morning. Took forever. Then downloaded Zelda WindWaker. Great game so far.

My kids have been enjoying Mario Kart 8. I haven't got to play it much yet. LOL

I know it had a head start but Wii U has the first "buy a console just to play it" game of the next gen consoles.

If they would do a Mario Kart Deluxe Wii U Refurb for $200, I would pick one up in heartbeat. However, Nintendo never loses money on consoles.

Online is a ****ing blast, its mad chaos and expect all our war! you get bumped around, turtle shelled to death. Its so fun and frustrating at the same time. haha

Online is brutal! lol This shit can make a person rage in madness! lol You go from 1st to 8th in a blink of an eye. lol Wonder how many controllers been broken from it. haha its frustrating as hell.

Every new track is awesome. Don't think I've ever played a Mario Kart where I didn't find at least one track boring until now.
