Teen Vogue: "Donald Trump Is Gaslighting America"

This article isn't worth reading of course. Just wanted to point out that Teens, the vast majority of whom cannot even vote or even pay attention to politics, are being brainwashed by anti-conservative (anti-Trump as well) propaganda. Start em young, lefties!

The average age of a TeenVogue reader btw: 16.3

Donald Trump Is Gaslighting America
In this scorched-earth op-ed, Lauren Duca takes on Trump's systematic attempts to destabilize the truth and weaken the foundation of American freedom.

Trump won the Presidency by gas light. His rise to power has awakened a force of bigotry by condoning and encouraging hatred, but also by normalizing deception. Civil rights are now on trial, though before we can fight to reassert the march toward equality, we must regain control of the truth. If that seems melodramatic, I would encourage you to dump a bucket of ice over your head while listening to ďDuel of the Fates." Donald Trump is our President now; itís time to wake up.

"Gas lighting" is a buzzy name for a terrifying strategy currently being used to weaken and blind the American electorate. We are collectively being treated like Bella Manningham in the 1938 Victorian thriller from which the term "gas light" takes its name. In the play, Jack terrorizes his wife Bella into questioning her reality by blaming her for mischievously misplacing household items which he systematically hides. Doubting whether her perspective can be trusted, Bella clings to a single shred of evidence: the dimming of the gas lights that accompanies the late night execution of Jackís trickery. The wavering flame is the one thing that holds her conviction in place as she wriggles free of her captorís control.

To gas light is to psychologically manipulate a person to the point where they question their own sanity, and thatís precisely what Trump is doing to this country....

I had to go my kids junior high school to stop a Social Studies teacher last year, that spent several days preaching about how Trump was a racist.
Principal didn't seem to care until I said that I had contacted Scott Vorhiese at KFAB and they wanted to run with this story. How fast this principles tune changed, was amazing. From ( not sure what I can do) to ( this is unacceptable and political ideology should be checked at the front door)

Yep!

For others who also might ask:

Quote:

Gaslighting
Gaslighting or gas-lighting is a form of mental abuse in which information is twisted or spun, selectively omitted to favor the abuser, or false information is presented with the intent of making victims doubt their own memory, perception, and sanity.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gaslighting
It's what the people who are accusing Trump are really doing.

I'd never heard that term before today. Why on earth a 16 year old would give even the slightest care for this story is beyond me. But I'm not a LWNJ looking to preach their political gospel to the kids.

HonestChieffan 12-19-2016 11:08 AM

Its all bullshit

I've heard of the term. I knew the meaning but not the origin. It is certainly not in common usage, and I've never used it in conversation myself or heard anyone else use it in conversation. But I think that plays well to teens and younger people in general.

People need to stop talking about "freeing Melania."
