I think Alex Smith is a solid game manager, nothing more, and I was not happy that we hired Andy Reid.

So, no matter what else we do, those two things temper any possible excitement I would otherwise have.

I am not getting any younger, and I just don't see this coach getting this team a SB, and have even less confidence that it will happen with this QB.

When you first brought up Marc Trestman's name during SOC as a possibility, I knew next to nothing about him. My interest grew when Romeo got fired.

I look at what Chicago has been doing this offseason, and I think more and more that we should have hired Trestman instead.

It sucks that Clark thought he needed to get a recognizable and well-established name in the NFL in order to win back fans. I think that hastiness will eventually implode this team similar to the way it did once Vermeil retired and all the veterans got too old.

You know it's going to be an ugly list when alex smith is not only on it, but first.

Isn't Trestman gonna run the option with Cutler? That's gonna be really interesting to see.

Loses points for the "lol" at the end, though.

LET US DO THE LOLLING.

I don't know, is Crabtree going to miss his entire rookie season again?

The 49ers were a pretty weak team roster wise for the first 4 years of Alex Smith's career, especially on the OL. They had a few nice players like Staley, Gore and Davis, but not much else.

Then they draft Crabtree, but he holds out for his entire rookie year, so his rookie season turned out to be 2010 instead of 2009.

Then in 2010, they finally upgrade the OL, but Anthony Davis had some rookie struggles (especially against us that year. We owned him).

2011 was the year the offense as a whole finally started to come together because of good coaching. But even then they had a few problems, like Adam Snyder and Chilo Rachal.

With that strong supporting cast, Alex Smith was top 10 in QBR the last 2 years, never threw INT's and had a good completion %.

I think we have a good enough roster on offense to help Alex maintain those numbers.

You really want to just erase 2005-2010, huh?

When they ran more than Smith threw during those horrible, bleak years, they were 14-4. When Smith threw more than they ran, they were 4-31.

Here's another reason to be excited. The D Bowe show just said Jamaal Charles will lead the league in rushing yards and Bowe himself will lead the league in receptions and touchdowns.

I admire your enthusiasm, but is it necessary to post the same god damn thing in every ****ing thread?
