Duck Dynasty

I looked back 10 pages, didn't see a thread on this. We have been watching it and laughing our asses off.

They must make a hell of a lot of duck calls too!

SAUTO 01-04-2013 08:47 PM

I'm not a fan. Scripted and dumb IMO.

Pretty much. And guess how much reality TV I watch.

Pablo 01-05-2013 09:00 AM

It's mildly entertaining for a couple minutes. I can't get into it. Every dumb redneck on my facebook loooooooves it though.

Ceej 01-05-2013 09:41 AM

It is one of the more poorly staged shows.

But I do enjoy Cy and Jace's sense of humor.

Kind of funny how "true rednecks" sell out for a staged show. I guess everyone has a price.

rockymtnchief 01-05-2013 09:52 AM

I don't mind it in small doses. You can't have 'stupid' without si.

Yeah, it's crap, and the humor is mindless.

Interestingly enough, I heard from somebody who cares about the show that they were all normal dudes running a business. And the owner is a pretty astute businessman. Then they all got the idea to grow beards and look like hillbillys when the show came around.

You'll note that their wives still look like reasonable humans.

Ceej 01-05-2013 12:25 PM

Oh, I understand that.

I'm not proud that Sy and Jace crack me up.

I used to really dislike it. But it has grown on me.

In58men 01-05-2013 12:41 PM

This is one of the funniest shows on TV.

Si and Phil is are harlious. Of course it's scripted everything is scripted lol. It's entertaining and we'll watch it.

FYP

NewChief 01-05-2013 12:45 PM

I hate the scripting and staging of the show. I also dislike the whole Duck Dynasty trend that's seized my Facebook feed (people having DD parties, people's kids starting DD clubs at their school, people joining DD book clubs, etc...).

That being said, the deadpan delivery of the guys is pretty good when they're doing the exposition/interview cutaways.

Do you know how long it takes to grow a beard like that?

I can have one for you in 2 weeks :D.

Nah, I'm not a beard guy.

Gracie Dean 01-05-2013 07:06 PM

Jase is probably the funniest. Willie is kind of a baby.

Cy is a riot too. When he cooked that "Nam special" in the RV I thought I would die laughing. Also when Phil dressed a squirrel for career day.

Jasonsauto, JFC yourself, I used the search function and looked back :)

Took me a year. I decided to not shave for a year after I retired from active duty. It was past my nipple line when I shaved it off.

Have since regrown it, but keep it neatly trimmed now.

Gracie Dean 01-05-2013 08:37 PM

oh and Mrs. Kaye is awesome too.

The episode where the grandson wanted to take the boat out with his girl and Phil went along was too good.

Gracie Dean 01-05-2013 08:47 PM

I read that Phil played starting quarterback at Louisiana Tech, with his backup being Terry Bradshaw.

The other thread should be your friend.

You are going over the whole conversation, just by yourself.

Yeah, he could have played in the NFL apparently, but it interfered with hunting lol. I guess it worked out.

We just cant see how they sell so many duck calls. Do you buy a new one every year?

I think they do a lot more than just duck calls. They also have their "Buck Commander" business that sells deer stuff. They have a full line of products. Also, I would also be willing to bet that they have a factory somewhere that churns out 99% of the duck calls they sell. Jase and Si, etc. just don't seem to make that many.

I, get in a ton of trucks that Hunters own and yes they all have multiple calls of different types

I didn't realize there was such an art to duck hunting.

See even "dumb redneck shows" can teach us something :)

Duck hunting isn't truly the domain of dumb rednecks.

seaofred 01-06-2013 11:48 AM

I am a Duck Hunter, but not a redneck. You need to have multiple calls for different ducks and different calls that mean different things to the ducks.
