Question About Toilets/Plumbing

If I wanted to dispose large amounts of liquid into my central sewage system, could I use a transfer pump and pump the liquid into the toilet? If I stuck the hose past the trapway of the toilet and started pumping, would that work? I feel like it would, but I'm not sure. Would I flood the toilet, or would it kind of flush itself?

Asking for a friend. I'll hang up and listen.

Ming the Merciless 11-25-2014 03:06 PM

nah, transfer it into a working clean-out if you can

ptlyon 11-25-2014 03:07 PM

The toilet will self flush if you pour it in the bowl, as long as you aren't pouring faster than it will go down obviously.

Any more questions Jessie?

4" clean out, should be outside...unscrew the cap and pump the liquid down the cleanout

CaliforniaChief 11-25-2014 03:07 PM

I'm an expert...let me work up a plan for you. Just kidding.

FlaChief58 11-25-2014 03:08 PM

Meth lab?

Seriously, what liquid?

Ming the Merciless 11-25-2014 03:08 PM

youcould also just take the toilet off and go right down the poo hole...two bolts and some wax...

depends on how 'large' of a volume of liquid youre pumping and whether or not you have easier access to a clean-out

Chief Roundup 11-25-2014 03:09 PM

Is there a clean out somewhere? If so that would be the proper place to try that I would think.
If this is in the city just dump it down the storm drain in the curb.

I'll have to check. It's at a little strip mall. This seems like the obvious way to go. But I'm still wondering about the toilet route.

Not practical for me to remove the toilet in this situation. It's an office in a strip mall and I'm not sure if there is an accessible sewage cleanout. I'll have to check.

Ask Saul then and you'll be good to go

you could also remove the p-trap and go straight down the 2" drain pipe through the wall under the sink...

would probably be better than trying to go through the toilet unless youre sure your hose can wind through the whole toilet without kinking

its smaller than the poo hole (3" -4") but 2" can handle some decent volume if you bypass the p-trap...which might be only connected with hand-tigethened nuts

Ming the Merciless 11-25-2014 03:24 PM

how many gallons are you talking about?

how fast will the water be flowing

Ming the Merciless 11-25-2014 03:31 PM

Might be best way?

No need to pull the toilet or the sink drain. As long as you keep the flow below 3gpm, the toilet will keep up with it. I still want to know what you're dumping.

Ming the Merciless 11-25-2014 03:44 PM

you could test how much water the line will handle with a garden hose too...

as long as the line is decently clear it should handle a constant flow of water, as long as it isnt TOO much TOO quick

The less you know the better. It is for your own safety.

good info

going straight into the 2" line you can do 30 GPM (assuming the line is clear!)

3-4 would be like 100+GPM

(the lines might fill up though so be ready to shut it down HAHAH)

ptlyon 11-25-2014 03:47 PM

You're not located in Ferguson Missouri are you?

Well, if you must know, it's a brand new clinical laboratory that does toxicology testing of urine. Lots and lots of urine.

Von Miller will pay a lot of money for that. Or if you prefer, he can pay you in marijuana or have somebody killed for you.
