Independence Mo. 10th Most Dangerous suburb?

Do you agree with these rankings or no?

1. East Point, GA
2. Camden, NJ
3. Miami Beach, FL
4. Midwest City, OK
5. Miami Gardens, FL
6. Clarksville, IN
7. Glendale, AZ
8. Tempe, AZ
9. Jacksonville Beach, FL
10. Independence, MO

The overall least dangerous in our top 10, Independence is a suburb of Kansas City, MO and home to 117,433 people. It has the lowest rank for murder in the top 10: 25th, with four homicides per 100,000 people in 2012. It ranked 23rd overall in terms of violent crime with 457 per 100,000—again, the lowest in our top 10.

Independence wasn’t as free of property crime, ranking sixth overall with 6,090 per 100,000. Total crime was also in the top 10, placing eighth with 6,548 per 100,000 during the year we looked at. This resulted in an overall chance of crime of 1 in 15.

This list is for suburbs, not major cities. But your right, most of Independence is fine.

Don't talk bad about independence. ROAR! /gblowfish

KcMizzou 04-10-2014 07:31 PM

Heh.

I work with a guy who lives in Independence, and calls it "God's country". Says he refuses to go north of the river except to come to work.

To be honest though, that dude is screwed up in all sorts of other ways too.

Fairplay 04-10-2014 07:49 PM

Glowfish will come fuming in this thread any minute now.

That is funny, Gladstone used to have a sign that said welcome to Gods Country it came down in the mid 2000s.

I grew up in Independence. It is not bad outside of the hood area, west independence. You narrow it down to just that and it might be the worst in the country numbers wise. That place is scary. Or certain apartment complexes. **** city wide I think they should just set up temporary stations.

I always laugh at the gym in gladstone when people try to act tough and gansta. Bitches, you live in the northland shut your mouth. You do not know.

Fairplay will come posting something without having read any posts in this thread any minute now

It's truly a special place.
everything that way is scary
Indep, Blue Springs, and grain valley are pretty ghetto

rico 04-12-2014 12:38 AM

That damn Joey!!!! It's all his fault!!!

wheeler08 04-12-2014 02:30 AM

I've stayed in Independence when I've went to games and thought it was just fine. And I live near Clarksville, IN (#6) and I've never heard of any bad violence there, its boomed in the last 10 years size wise cuz of Bass Pro opening there. Lot of nice places to eat now. Screwed up list I think...

Methdependence.

Independence, the white ghetto. Tons of WASPs and trailers

lewdog 04-12-2014 11:57 AM

The student body of ASU may be a bit rowdy but it's laughable that Tempe is on this list. It's a great place to be any time of the day or year. Tons of things to do and I've never felt unsafe.

Duh. That's because you're not a crossfitter.

Coochie liquor 04-12-2014 02:52 PM

Idk how Ft Pierce FL didn't make the list. Pretty crazy place at times, but not too big so that may be the reason.

Where are the trailers? All I see are section 8 apartments and run down houses from the 40s to 60s. Only trailer park I can remember is in Buckner.

Imon Yourside 04-12-2014 03:14 PM

Good thing I live in Kansas..phew...

GloucesterChief 04-12-2014 03:17 PM

Surprised more places around Philly didn't make that list besides Camden.
