Let's do this shit!

This is my pick for a FA WR, smart, speed, quickness, blocks well, would like to see better hands tho I admit. been overshadowed since drafted by a.brown who is truly a dynamic talent.

Riley Cooper is a downgrade from Dexter McCluster

htismaqe 02-13-2014 04:39 PM

Sign Bernard Pollard NOW.

Impossible to know.

It's safe to say that all of Denver's WR's number would drop 35-40% without Peyton.

That's being generous, too.

How this guy made it through three different coaching staffs with his job is beyond me.

He has been fortunate enough to be saddled to purely old school coaches the whole time.

Those types of coaches generally go with the guy that knows what they want him to do. Guys that can interact with the coaches in between plays in practice and talk their way through their responsibilities. Lewis is that guy. Reports were that he was the signal caller for the defense and old school coaches value that kind of thing.

Abdullah was our second best safety, but was coming off a year away from the game and having a backround in the cover 2 4-3 defense from Minnesota...so he had a lot to learn and had to get into football shape. He was on pup when I was at camp.

Demps and Lewis came from similar defenses and most likely picked up their responsibilities a lot faster because their learning curve was probably shorter.

What these types of coaches don't value as much as they should are instincts and playmaking ability because those are things you don't "count on"...those aren't things you coach in practice, so sometimes guys like Lewis will play over guys like Abdullah when the DC is a stubborn old **** like Bob Sutton.

Honestly, if he would just take over the box safety role from Eric Berry and light it up on special teams...he would be well worth his modest price tag.

Just don't drop him into coverage where he has to make decisions very often and he would be fine.

He has always played well against Peyton Manning, too. Lots of interceptions from him, even.

I was gonna say...cheap and talented free agents are mutually exclusive terms aren't they?

I would like to sign Darren Mcfadden. What if we see him with 100+ yards games against Oakland? That would be great.

Direckshun 02-14-2014 08:52 AM

I am really wondering where McFadden ends up. What team would possibly want to sign a RB who won't last the season?

If he gets anything more than a 1 year deal, I will be astonished.

Simply Red 02-14-2014 08:54 AM

let's go after Nate Burleson!!!

There are, however, several big name guys that could garner some attention from the Chiefs. Here are a few positions that I think we need to improve upon, and the 2014 FA's for those positions (age of FA shown). Feel free to add to the mix. I've bolded a few players that I think we may show interest in.

3 of our OL are coming up as FA's (Schwartz, Asamoah, and Albert) so we'll need to pick up a few pieces or resign some guys. I'm betting Albert is gone.

Who should we pursue? Who should we avoid?

Discuss.

Would you mind updating OP to include Nate Burleson to the list of available wide-receivers? Dorsey can't overlook that guy. He's really good and only 33.

Direckshun 02-14-2014 11:31 AM

Can somebody tell me why we shouldn't pursue a value deal with Jonathan Martin?
