Here is an interesting site that shows a comparison of how the Chiefs are doing in the 3 phases of the game through 8 games back to 1996. Interesting numbers.

Yes, these are interesting numbers.

On the offensive side of the ball there are really no surprises. Rushing yardage is down, while passing yardage and scoring are up.

The defensive side of the ball has some interesting information. In most catagories the defensive performance this year is comparable to earlier years. Two catagories stick out: opponents passing efficiency is at 64% instead of the traditional 55% and below. Can any one say SOFT ZONE? Also scoring against KC is up. We don't appear to be nearly as tough in the red zone as we were in previous years. This is related to allowing a high completion percentage: in the redzone, a completion can mean a score. Also, our weakness against the run probably leads to better opponent scoring ability in the red zone.

Gun promised we would have one of the top 5 special teams in the NFL this season. In fact, we are worse than last year in several catagoies, especially kickoff and punt coverage. Stock must go.

We have about the same number of penalties as in the past, but at least the number of yards penalized is down by about 100. Getting rid of the thugs and the PI twins (Carter and Dishman), probably helped here.

On my previous post, I just looked at the stats without reading the article. Sorry for repeating some of their analysis.
