Errors on Windows 98 startup..
My dad has an old acer computer that he just basically uses to surf the net. I upgraded the ram over the last year for him and he's real happy with the computer.
However today, I decided to run defrag, scandisc, disc cleanup on his machine just to keep it humming. Well upon re-start of the system. I got a bunch of command line errors when windows 98 was booting up. It says all these are missing or corrupted: C:\windows\ifship.sys C:\windows\cabinit.exe C:\windows\dblbuff.sys C:\windows\himem.sys C:\windows\command.com How can I go about fixing this error? I'm pretty clueless with all this command stuff. Thanks for any help. |
Heh. Good luck. Sounds like its time to wipe it out and reinstall Windows.

I'd rather just buy him another computer. This thing is 8 years old and I have zero idea where any of the resource discs are.

Can anyone give me a step by step process of how to start up from a disc instead of the HD? I'm just going to reinstall the windows drivers.
Thanks in advance. |
