CHIEFS CELEBRATE 50 YEARS IN KANSAS CITY
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – On May 22, 1963, Chiefs Founder Lamar Hunt announced he was relocating his professional football franchise to Kansas City from Dallas. Four days later, the Dallas Texans officially became your Kansas City Chiefs. In celebration of the club’s 50 years in Kansas City, Chiefs Chairman and CEO Clark Hunt informed fans on Saturday that all season ticket account holders – both existing and new accounts – will be given one personalized Chiefs Nike jersey per account to honor them for their support and enthusiasm over the years. “We are very excited to be celebrating 50 years in Kansas City,” Hunt said. “My family and I are extremely grateful to be a part of this great city and we have built so many fond memories here through the years. When my dad brought this team to Kansas City, he knew there was something special about this place. For 50 years, the Kansas City community has rallied around the Chiefs, and for that, we want to say thank you for being the best fans in the NFL.” Each account holder will have the option to choose name/number and size on their brand new Chiefs jersey which was just released by Nike. The jersey will come with a commemorative STH (Season Ticket Holder) patch that can be placed onto the right shoulder, opposite of the Lamar Hunt AFL patch, if the recipient so chooses. Account holders will also have the option to purchase additional jerseys at a discounted rate. The jersey giveaway is the first of many events and promotions that will take place in 2012 to pay tribute to the fans. Details of other initiatives will be announced at a later date. “This is a great opportunity for us to say thank you to our fans for the support they have given us,” said Head Coach Romeo Crennel. “The season is just around the corner, and I’m really looking forward to seeing our fans out there in that Sea of Red cheering us on.” Below are details on how season ticket account holders can obtain their jersey, compliments of the Chiefs. And I had to read it like three times. Each time I swore it said New Jersey Chiefs.

Then you gotta think that a lot of them won't get their order in before June 1st. so say 15k do.... Consumer price per jersey is roughly $100.... so that would be around $15k. I'm sure the chiefs have a nice discount of cost for ordering 15k jerseys.... This whole thing prolly cost Clark about 10-13k dollars. He could wipe his ass with that money. This needs done on a yearly basis, not every 50. |

I agree, bash them for a lot of things. But, this is a pretty cool giveaway.
I ordered mine. They say it's stitched numbering and looks to be pretty nice. That's a heck of a lot better than a perfect attendance hat, or a keychain or license plate holder. |

You're wrong. |

No one on earth is going to spend $500 to get a $100 jersey. |

After the Palko disaster they know they owe the STH
Admitting it is not a bad thing |

They want to sell more tickets. Go ****ing look at any other team. I got a ****ing sticker for being a Chargers Season Ticket Holder. Every team does shit to try to sell tickets. The Chiefs are doing the most fan-friendly thing. How do you not understand what I am arguing? |

They say it's the gameday jersey, which retails for 250.
Not a bad deal, but not enough to get me to get ST again. |

I'm gonna have to talk to my dad about this. |
This is a great thing for existing STHs. Wouldn't be enough to get me to sign up to be a STH though.

Who the hell cares what this cost the team? They don't have to do anything. Now would I prefer they just not charge me for the pre-season games? Yes, yes I would. But this is still really damn cool in its own right. |
there's an expression:
some of you would bitch if you weren't hung with new rope. |
curious to know what the "reduced rate" is for additional jerseys.

This thread reminds me of the greatest Cleveland Browns fan jersey ever:

Okoye - 35, Berry - 29, Saleaumua - 97, Allen - 32, Richardson - 49, Anders - 38 Really leaning hard to Saleaumua cuz the guy got so little love due to having DT and NS sucking up all the limelight. |

Chiefs to give away a personalized jersey to every season ticket holder.
http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/blog/ey...-ticket-holder
As the Chiefs celebrate 50 years in Kansas City, the organization is offering their season ticket holders a special treat: a customized Nike jersey with his/her own name and number. “We are very excited to be celebrating 50 years in Kansas City,” Chiefs owner Clark Hunt said in a statement. “My family and I are extremely grateful to be a part of this great city and we have built so many fond memories here through the years. When my dad brought this team to Kansas City, he knew there was something special about this place. For 50 years, the Kansas City community has rallied around the Chiefs, and for that, we want to say thank you for being the best fans in the NFL.” The jersey -- which, of course, can be seen at right -- also comes with a patch commemorating season ticket holders that can be worn on the right shoulder, opposite of the Lamar Hunt AFL patch. Ticket holders also can order additional jerseys at a reduced rate. The offer is available to new season ticket holders and to those who have or will renew their passes. Not altogether newsworthy, but still, a cool gesture for a team to its fanbase. “This is a great opportunity for us to say thank you to our fans for the support they have given us,” coach Romeo Crennel said in the team statement. “The season is just around the corner, and I'm really looking forward to seeing our fans out there in that Sea of Red cheering us on.” The best news about this gift: no longer will Chiefs fans have to worry that their jersey could be irrelevant the next season if the name on the back of their attire gets traded or released. Unless the team gets really bad and fans decide they'd be better off rooting for a different team altogether. |

I'd have my personalized jersey as:
NO SB? WILL KILL SELF 19 ...that might be too large though. |
Rumor has it....Nike developed all yellow jerseys for the Chiefs but Clark said not this season....Also, they have yellow helmets to go with the Red jerseys also nixed for this season.
Source: Advertising guys in the KC area. Take it for what it's worth. I hope it's true. |

So why would they be doing this? That's a significant expenditure. I doubt Nike is providing 80,000 customized jerseys for free.
Season ticket sales sagging? |
What an asshole! /cp
