i think it's kinda funny all the grumblings about moving camp down here. Especially when this thread starts filling up and people realize there is some stuff to do in the area. What the hell exactly was there to do in River Falls, besides frequent the handful of bars or pizza places downtown?

AustinChief 06-22-2009 12:51 PM

Please tell me Cordonniers Place is still open...

I know it changed owners and the fish is no longer fresh from uncle George's net's but it is still open right?

And did someone mention that the Hoof and Horn is reopened?

St. Joseph is a fine place if you stay on the East side, and north shoppes area. Avoid South Side, downtown, and the old north end and you will be in good shape.

Classy Hangouts:

-Boudreaux's (Awesome Cajun food)
-The Tap Room (Classy bar with no drama, thugs, trash. HD TV's with deck)
-Cheddars (Big portions, $2.50 margarita's, cheap/good food approx $6.99)
-Fosters Martini Bar (martini's for the chicks)

Other restaraunts:
(North Shoppes)

-Buffalo Wild Wings
-54 Street
-Chili's
-Bob Evans
-IHOP
-Olive Garden

(East Side)

-Red Lobster
-Denny's
-Country Kitchen
-Applebee's
-Le Peep (Awesome breakfast)
-Cracker Barrel

Barbeque:

-Bandana's (Best BBQ in town imo)
-Whiskey Creek
-Famous Dave's
-Rib Crib

Active Bars:
(East Side)

-Uncle D's
-The Rear View
-The Tap Room
-Wiley's (yuck!, frat hangout, underage drinking, drama)

(West Side)

-Norty's (New!)
-HI-HO (Classic, always crowded, good times)
-Kelley's (New!)
-Hammerjacks (Supposed to be a rock bar)
-Rendezvous (Best place for live rock/metal)
-Magoon's (Best for live Jazz/experimental)

the Hoof and Horn is reopened.

My good friends opened Coordinier's for awhile after the Coordiniers retired, and while they weren't out there catching the fish, the Coordiniers were still stocking the freezers and they were serving fresh catch.

They got out of it, but it's once again re-opened and I believe the Coordinier family is still catching fish for the manager to prepare for customers.

that's pretty good. I was almost considering listing all chain restaurants at the bottom of the restaurants list, maybe just alphabetically.

We also need to figure out how to list and give reviews of the local bars and pubs. Maybe I can just list them and then link to reviews kinda like I've started to do with the restaurants here...

downtown has pretty good bars, magoons ususally has blues, jazz, the vous is rock experimental live music, hammerjacks is a straight up rock bar, felix street pub has local nice boozers. Shaft is a gay bar club 107 always has bands there.

Demonpenz 06-22-2009 01:02 PM

snakebite is our reeruned version of a club, there are ususally a bunch of college chicks trendy music etc, one thing that is cool though is the service is usually pretty nice. it is downtown. If you want to get into a fight get drunk and go to legends (a bowling alley bar) fights happen everytime I go out there. Uncle D's is a nice bar, dunno how the food is anymore, it is a Missouri Western themed bar.

Demonpenz 06-22-2009 01:04 PM

Wiley's is an old pizza hut turned into a Frat house bar. I haven't been there in years, but oh the irony having Frat guys with popped collars in an old pizza hut. Biggin's is an old mazzio's pizza place turned into a bar, pretty white trash, but good boozing friends there. Most the places in st joseph you can find 3rd shift people drinking at all parts of the day and if you are drinking then the locals are ususally friendly as hell.

Demonpenz 06-22-2009 01:06 PM

acoustic cafe is a place where hippies or alt people hang out and play guitar, beers are ususally 3 bucks or higher but it is a place to watch INDIE people play guitar.

the snakebite owner is looking to build a party deck up on the roof, which would be pretty cool. What could beat getting drunk and leaning over the edge watching the cars passing by?

Just South of there now at the corner of 6th & Edmond they are renovating an old Music Store and it is going to be a roof-top restaurant. I see some potential with that as well, although the quality of food probably makes or breaks it like anything else.

I used to skate there back when it was a skate park. I've been into Emeralds twice and it just does NOT feel right.
