Brady Quinn completed 19-of-23 passes for 201 yards and two touchdowns in the Chiefs victory over the Panthers.

For that, he has been named AFC player of the week.

BigCatDaddy 12-05-2012 12:00 PM

We've found our franchise QB!!!

Steron 12-05-2012 12:01 PM

Oh God no. So much for a first round QB.

KurtCobain 12-05-2012 12:02 PM

He deserves it.

Mr. Kotter 12-05-2012 12:03 PM

God help us....

Hootie 12-05-2012 12:03 PM

We always **** up the #1 God damn pick...I already miss cassel

KurtCobain 12-05-2012 12:04 PM

I remember a few guys last week talking about how Cassel could sneak a game through, and Quinn would be our best bet to lose out. Ha!

There's Pioli's excuse to keep him for another year.

ChiefMojo 12-05-2012 12:23 PM

Frankly we can keep Quin as a back-up but Cassel has to leave!

Sign Quinn to a 2 year deal and draft Bray if he declares.

Yeah. I wouldn't mind seeing Quinn as the backup. I don't see it happening though. More than likely we will go into the regular season as follows.

1) Alex Smith
2) Matt Barkley
3) Ricky Stanzi

BoneKrusher 12-05-2012 12:28 PM

all i have to say is he's better than Cassel.

Hog's Gone Fishin 12-05-2012 12:38 PM

I would just as soon Quinn show everyone why he was a first round pick and play lights out. He's never really had that opportunity and some QB's just can't show their stuff playing off the bench. I'm rooting for him. And this week he faces the team that drafted him and never gave him that opportunity. Expect another win. Sorry.

LOL I don't believe that is a majority opinion on Chiefs Planet. Could happen!

bsp4444 12-05-2012 12:54 PM

Keep Quinn AND draft a QB in the 1st or 2nd round. I'd like to see us trade down so we aren't spending the first or second overall pick on any of this years qb's, but take a Barkley or Wilson and still have the extra picks to move around in the first or second round for talent.

listopencil 12-05-2012 12:54 PM

You are going to need someone on the team who has at least played, preferably started. Might as well be Quinn.

CoMoChief 12-05-2012 12:56 PM

1.Geno Smith
2.Alex Smith
3.Brady Quinn

Those are the QB's I want on this roster next season.

Buckweath 12-05-2012 12:58 PM

Is this some kind of sympathy for our Chiefs team for the Belcher saga? I don't care about his stats, Quinn was good but certainly not great against the Panthers. There's absolutely no way he was the best player in the AFC this week or even close.

Lzen 12-05-2012 01:03 PM

C'mon, guys. You can give the guy credit where credit is due. It's okay. That doesn't mean I don't think we still need to draft a franchise QB.

Alex Smith will get a starting gig somewhere, and Brady Quinn will get a backup gig

Sure he was , better than Manning even. The NFL wouldn't lie about something like this.

stonedstooge 12-05-2012 01:07 PM

NFL doesn't want the shitty Cheaps to get the number 1 pick. It's not good business

I think a lot of it had to do with Quinn's comments about Belcher. A lot of commentators seemed mighty impressed.

As for keeping Quinn, I would rather keep Quinn as a backup or placeholder for a 1st round QB than Alex Smith since Smith will probably take draft picks to acquire.

htismaqe 12-05-2012 01:12 PM

2013 starter right there.

InChiefsHeaven 12-05-2012 01:14 PM

Keep Quinn. Draft Geno. Keep Stanzi. Have an actual QB competition in camp, keeping in mind we are developing Geno.

No kidding. Everybody, well almost everybody said Quinn was worst than Cassel.

Sad part is the coaches didn't know that Quinn was better than Cassel a long time ago.

Matty Loss was a lock for the Chiefs to get the # 1 pick this year. His head was so far buried up his ass this year with his play it was a lock for # 1.

Brady Quinn has bought himself another year in the NFL thanks to last weeks game.

Eh, I don't know about that. Statistically, it was the best day of his career, and he had the highest QBR in the league last week. It's notable as a one-time event though probably not as a predictor of future success.

Lzen 12-05-2012 03:18 PM

You know, I will admit that the thought crossed my mind when the announcers said the Chiefs had 0 penalties late in the game that the NFL was having pity on the Chiefs. I turned and said to my son that they may have been instructed to not call any penalty on the Chiefs unless is was something extremely obvious (like the 1 penalty they called - false start).

Still, look at Quinn's numbers and tell me he didn't deserve it. I don't care if he's been crap before, this game he played well enough to earn that honor.

gblowfish 12-05-2012 03:20 PM

Nice job by Quinn. He deserves congratulations on a great job in a tough situation.

No, though it's also appropriate to mention that that was Quinn's 16th start in the NFL. It isn't out of the realm of possibility that he could drastically improve with more playing time.

I definitely don't want them to go into next season with Quinn as the QBOTF but, depending on what he does over the next four weeks, he could end up being a quality back up and mentor to a 1st round QB.

I agree.

I have been on the draft a QB bandwagon a long time, in fact I remember well, how pissed I was when Cleveland moved back into the first round to snatch Quinn right before the Chief's pick.

Is his situation that much different than Lenny Dawson's back in the day?

If he did work out to be a legit top 10 QB, wouldn't that help take advantage of the window the team has with players like DJ, Tamba Hali, Bowe, Flowers, and Charles?

Damn right, If we draft a QB we might as well trade the whole team and start over because our best players will be elderly by the time he's up to speed. IF Quin can just play at an above average tempo we can go places.

Exactly. Some of these first round picks are at their peak, now.

This team needs a QB that can do his part, and a coaching staff that knows what the **** is going on.

By all means though, spend that top pick on a QB, but I am not ready to dismiss Quinn's potential yet.

Peyton will destroy Oakland's devastated secondary tomorrow. With a Chiefs win, Raiders pull even with KC in the draft race. All we have to is lose to the Chiefs next week & we pull ahead! GO CHIEFS!!

In a miracle world Quinn takes off from here and becomes our Franchise QB for the next 10 years and wins 2-3 SB's.

We would not only get our SB's, we could stick it up Denver's ass due to the fact he was on their team.

Yes and we barley beat a 3-8 team at home. Its not bullshit. Quinn's stats are.pedestrian at best. But since the NFL felt sorry for the chiefs we get an award.

Laughable at best but I am sure it gives some hope for more losing seasons.
