I like this move. Jackson was a flop as a draft pick. But he can be an average DL and did seem to get better last year. We shouldn't judge him on where he was drafted. thats on *****, not him.

:spock:

Welker or Wallace? You think they're going to sign Wallace....who will want more than Bowe? Or Welker who will want about what Bowe is making?

Greg Jennings isn't going to get a huge deal. I bet we pick him up.

Jennings wants $10 million a year.

ChiefMojo 03-05-2013 06:33 PM

Jennings may want that but at his age he isn't going to get it. In the end he may be worth $6-$8 million but not in the area Bowe got ($11 million a year) imo.

You're pretty good with the cap.

Where would we be if we cut Cassel and Studebaker? Including in Alex Smith and Tyson Jackson's cut in pay.

Cassel gets you 5.6m and Andy 2.05m

Chiefs would be Around 11m under

It will piss people off but i bet we see Alex Smith get a new deal. 9.7m this year for Smith is high.

It will only piss me off if they do it like they did Cassels. There was no earthly reason to give that guy a long term deal like they did when he was playing under the franchise tag.

Agreed. There is no way Smith plays on his current deal, they will extend him and lower his cap number for this year accordingly.

Bad news for Geno :/

Still think we should have cut Jackson. Though, I can see this being an OK move if FA DE's where both unimpressive to the FO, and expensive.

I'm also worried about Kendrick Lewis. He's injury prone and misses a lot of tackles. We really need a new corner and safety. Hartman may be OK, but I think we can do better.

I doubt we will do to much more with safety.

Ace Gunner 03-05-2013 07:21 PM

they'll bring in CB's & safeties too I imagine. As it's been said many times on this board the DB's for this team are short. Berry is the only one left with any ranginess since Carr was cut. Daniels, but he's old now. Lewis is mediocre as far as close range goes.

BossChief 03-05-2013 07:48 PM

I wonder if they have interest in Charles Woodson on a 1 year deal.

They need leaders.
