Interesting and edited from its original version. There is a scene where there is a shootout in a movie theatre, and this scene was featured in the original trailer, which was attached to...The Dark Knight Rises. The trailer was pulled, and the release date for the film was moved from September to Jan 2013, so that scene has probably been cut from the movie, and possibly some other scene was filmed in to replace it.

Still looks like a good movie, and I will be checking it out. Hopefully the original cut can make its way to DVD/Blu-ray at some point.

Yea, it was supposed to open early Sept and was heavily marketed during the summer. WB pulled it to reshoot the ending which contained the theater shooting. At first glance, Jan sounds like a dump, but Jan has become a much stronger movie going month in recent years.

Not really. January is a dump month. It ranks ahead of Sept/Oct/Feb in terms of total gross, but the numbers are deceiving due to the number of strong movies that are released in late December whose grosses carryover into Jan.

January has typically contributed 7-10 percent of the total Hollywood gross per year for over the last decade, and most of that revenue comes from strong December movies that carry over into January, as opposed to movies that actually open in January.

Going back to 2000, the top January movie has been a December holdover 10 times...the exceptions being Gran Torino (opened wide Jan 9th, 2009), and The Green Hornet (opened wide Jan 14th, 2011.)

Gran Torino was also a WB release, and they may see Gangster Squad in that mold...as something potentially Oscar-Worthy that might be able to pull some good grosses in Jan/Feb as Oscar buzz begins to build. Gran Torino had a very limited release in Dec 2008 for Oscar qualification, I would expect Gangster Squad to hit NY/LA the last week of December to qualify for next March's Oscar race.

ROFL

Kind of looks like it doesn't it?

I actually don't mind it if it is the same thing as the untouchables. Good acting Emma Stone looking like she hasn't recovered from a stroke stylish outfits, gun play. Probably worth watching once.

Gosling is one of the best actors in the world so that alone merits a view or two

That would not be a bad thing at all. DeNiro with the baseball bat is one of the coolest moments in gangster movies ever.
