Friday Night Lights....

Yeah yeah...I know..another movie thread....I guess im on a movie kick tonight......so who is gonna go check this one out? I read the book about 10 years ago or so and its a classic...I hope the movie captures the spirit of it. There is nothing like Texas High School Football....

Absolutely sucks. Great comedy though. There's a cheerleader that gets her shit tossed. Other than that...boring.

Seriously don't go.

I've always wanted to read this book but haven't ever gotten around to buying it... I think I want to read it before ever seeing the movie.

Scored 82% on Rotten Tomatoes..

I thought it looked pretty good. I'll catch it on DVD if nothing else.

Odessa Permian was/is a pretty bad A$$ H.S. Football program and so is Dallas Carter. Living in Texas all my life, I'm pretty familar with the state's best H.S. programs. Friday nights here are pretty special. :thumb:

fucking Texans.

Many in Indiana probably wouldn't think that as much anymore because we went to a class system about 6 years ago. I didn't have a problem with it really, but I went to a small school that always got its behind kicked by a school 3-4 times our size in the sectional (1st round of the tourney if you will). Some places it's died down I suppose, where I'm from I don't think it has a lot. I went to the sectional round last year and on the Friday night when there were four teams playing (all schools of around 300 kids or less)... and there had to be 3000-4000 people there... filling up the concourse that runs around the top of the bleachers (sunken bowl-type gym). Fun times.

Plus I forget the exact number, but something like 17 of the 20 biggest high school gyms in the country are in Indiana. Some of them are bigger than most small college gyms and go up to as high as 9300 in capacity.

Theres a play and they show the cheerleader doind a dance and then a player gets tackled right into them. Its so fast, that the cheerleader flys into the wall.

And I honestly don't know what rotten tomatoes reviewers are thinking. It has no dialog (very good atleast) and the acting sucks. It combines every other football movie and adds the Playmaker's camera crews. Youll see what I mean.

Then again, people could like it, but the crowd i was with thought it was a great comedy, sucky football movie.

PS, ITS PREDICTABLE

Rotten tomatoes is just a collection of movie reviews from all over the country. They don't actually have reviewers of their own.

I'll probably still see it on DVD, but after hearing your opinion of it... I don't think I go to the trouble of trying to see it in a theater.
