QBOTF question from Iowanian(s)

Drew Tate?

What do you think? Should we start pimping him for the Chiefs? Agewise he seems just right to arrive about a year before Trent Green's decline.

(And yes, I am a Cyclone fan, but much more so a Chiefs fan. So in cases like this I put aside the Cyclone/Hawkeye rivalry.)

Saulbadguy 10-22-2004 12:52 PM

Haven't seen him play as of yet. I'll let you know after 11/20.

Iowanian 10-22-2004 12:53 PM

I have a friend, who works for the team, is friends with some players, and has lots of good inside juice.

He says Tate isn't the best QB on the team.....Manson is, by far(according to him).......

Tate has looked pretty good the past couple of weeks, but its pretty darn early to be pimping him for the NFL. He's got Drew Brees Potential.

Hoover 10-22-2004 12:53 PM

I think he's going to be good. I think he will have a monster year next season. I have no clue how he would fit into the NFL but I think he will need to be looked at in time, but not right now.

Whatever happened to that midget QB the Iowa fans were pimping a couple of years ago?

Iowanian 10-22-2004 12:57 PM

Brad Banks?

He's been signed by a couple of NFL teams as a FA, but I think he was cut again........he might be in the place where the national anthem is "oh cahnaduh, eh"

Seneca Wallace. IIRC plays for the Seahawks.

Saulbadguy 10-22-2004 12:57 PM

Ah..IOWA fans. I didn't know Brad Banks was a midget. I knew Seneca Wallace was shorter...

Hoover 10-22-2004 12:58 PM

My cat is smarter than Brad Banks

shakesthecat 10-22-2004 12:58 PM

Sure why not.
IMO, the comparisons between Tate and Drew Brees are right on, except Tate's a better scrambler.
As a Hawk fan, I'm friggin thrilled he has 2 1/2 years left at Iowa.

Frankie,
If ISU can't beat Baylor tomorrow, they should consider dropping down to 1-AA next season, as that appears to be the only teams they can beat. :p

Thats right on. I think Tate is our best hope to lead Iowa to a BCS Championship next year and the year after.

Tate looked good at the Spring game but has a lot of development to go. Biggest knock: he is too damn short for the NFL. It's good to see the Hawks with a starting QB who will be around for a couple of years instead of the merry-go-round of seniors we have had (not that it hasn't been succesful).

Of course, the Arizona State fans on the bb prolly think we're on drugs.

Drew Tate has looked decent, and seems to show progress in each successive game, but he's a long way from the NFL. For one thing, he's only a sophmore. Any talent he has shown would only grow with more college experience.

I wasn't in here when Banks played, but I can't imagine anyone pimping him as a pro. He was the perfect example of a good college QB that had no shot in the pros. Seneca Wallace from ISU is the only short guy I can think of...Like Saul said, he's in Seattle and has looked good when he's been on the field. Given the chance I think he could be solid. Pretty much a black Doug Flutie.

Aaron Rodger, JR. from California looks like he has all the tools to make it in the NFL. I think he would make a great QB of the future for the Chiefs.
