Free agents(would they consider the chiefs)

My wife and I were discussing the thread about CP saying he would go after free agents this year.

we came to the question of Would free agents conider the chiefs.I mean quality top tier free agents.

not because of money or cp or the horrid defense, but because of the coaching situation.DV has said he will be back next year, but what about after that.Would they inform the players ahead of time about Dv's replacment if they knew.(as in Saunder)

Ive heard players before say they like stability before they sign a long contract. The chiefs dont have that after next year. With CP and Dv's contracts running out and Mr. Hunt getting up there in age.

Can we get a few top tier F/A even if CP is willing to pay.

Most Free Agents are all about the money. Sad but true.

If I was a free agent you would have to give me ridiculous amounts of money to come and play for the Carl Peterson led Chiefs. Because, you know that winning a championship is not important to the team.

I'm under the impression, that, a great majority of unrestricted free-agent players pay visits to Kansas City, only to use us as a way of bait. to raise offers for their contracts, so that other teams are willing to pay more than our initial offer.

If Carl puts top tier money on the table ANd can convince defensive players that he will add more players than just them, then players will come here. Vermeil and Gun are guys players love to play for. The league knows that if the Chiefs get some defensive talent they are a Superbowl contender. It comes down to signing bonus. BTW, that ain't Carl, that's Lamar.

If you are a free agent on defense why wouldn't you want to play for the Chiefs. You could come in an instantly have an impact and make the defense better, and you know you are playing with an offense that is going to go out and score points, which means you have a good chance to seriously compete for a Super Bowl.

Amnorix 01-01-2005 07:58 PM

99% of free agents will go wherever the most money is.

IMHO, the Chiefs are only a few pieces away from being REALLY good. This despite the fact that the AFC is BRUTAL. If I were a premier defensive free agent, and I thought CP and DV were commtted to upgrading the defense in order to complement the offense and win a title, I'd definitely be interested in going to KC.

Because you know that the Chiefs would need to bring in at least 8 other good defenders for the defense not to be the laughingstock of the NFL.

Depends. Cinncinatti is no longer the laughing stock of the league anymore. They haven't won a playoff game in 15 years. That doesn't necessarily mean
they aren't going to make the playoffs and not win a playoff game. Too influence my decision, it all depends on what direction the team is going what there plans are for the future. It all depends on who the owner is, what he wants to do, and willing to share. I guess some owners care about winning, some don't. I wanna win, for me, it's not all about the $$$. you make it seem like we don't wanna win. That's why I was quoted saying "that's ridiculous". I'm sure Lamar Hunt wants to win. As does Carl Peterson. How many times have they stated, "our goal is to win the SB?"

You gotta remember this league is very competitive, how many competitive teams do we have in the AFC alone. Lots. Just look at how many teams are fighting for that last wild card spot? 4. Football is a game of bounces my friend, a team can easily go from good to bad in one season. Look at us for instance, we could easily be 9-6. Take away the Green ints in the Houston and San Diego game and we could have easily won. Look at San Diego, who the fuck are they? they haven't won a playoff game in 11 years. Yet, critics are praising them now like they are some sort of AFC powerhouse. where did Drew Brees, and Antonio Gates come from? These guys weren't anything spectacular last year. if you were a free-agent last year would you have wanted to play for them? under your standards, I'm thinking not.
that's why I hate it when people like yourself make these ignorant statements, like, "winning a championship is not important to the team". I don't see why and how you could make these statements to begin with, when you are not even behind the scenes, or a part of the Chiefs organization. Unreal.

Simple I have watched the team for 39 years and we stopped caring about winning Championships after Stram left. The only objective of Lamar and Carl is to fill seats. As they have been putting out lately fans need to be less involved with the team because the team is only entertainment.
