Too bad it's not a director's cut with Natalie Portman's nude scenes back in...

"Too bad..."

I disagree... Maybe as a special feature (deleted scenes) but otherwise leave this movie alone... It's perfect...

I would agree that it's very good, but dammit... I wanted to see Natalie's boobies. I don't care if it's a deleted scene, but it should be there!

I'm sure you're jaded, but for the sake of argument, if I hated your dream girl, how much would I like this movie?

For instance, I absolutely can't stand Nicolas Cage. Hate him. If he's in a movie I'll probably refuse to watch it. That said, I loved "Adaptation." Thought he did a great job and loved the movie.

Are the story and acting good?

I love the entire cast -- thought they were outstanding. That said, the MOST important thing to know going into this film is that it was billed as a love story... in reality, it's almost an anti-love story.

As long as it isn't another "Requiem For A Dream" experience.

I felt like I'd bought stock on October 28, 1929 after that flick...

Ain't that the truth... no, it's not like that.

Good.

I'm on it then. Well, it's netflix responsibility at this point...

Thats odd. I'm a big fan of Nick Cage. LOVED Matchstick Men. I could not get through Adaptation...

Nicholas Cage:
I like a good portion of his movies for different reasons. Thought Face Off was fun, same with Con Air. Adaptation was brilliant, but that was mostly because everything Charlie Kauffman writes is gold. Leaving Las Vegas was also very solid. But, there are other times (Family Man, Snake Eyes) where I just wish he would get shot with an elephant gun.

Rausch: (Brad right, I get confused easily)
No, it's certainly not like Requiem... It's beautifully written: clever, and biting dialogue written by the playwrite Patrick Marber. In fact, it's almost word for word from the play, which is probably why Mike Nichols wanted to direct it. He did "The Graduate" "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf" and "Angels in America." His direction is spot on, IMO. The play is wrought with refrences to fish and the sea, which kinda mimics the themes of love and relationships that is in the play. His direction follows right in line the whole time. It's really subtle and brilliant. It's a story that focuses on the parts of the relationships that people truely remember... The beginnings and endings...

As for the acting, it's 100% brilliant all the way through. All four of these guys do steller jobs, and that's thanks in no small part to Mike Nichols as well, who makes sure that there is action motivating every scene, even it's a small thing like cleaning someone's glasses or brushing your teeth, each character is really LIVING and affecting the other characters around them. I can't say enough about this brilliant film, and I've only begun to peel away the layers, and there are many...

I agree. He effing sucks. There's never been a more overrated actor in the history of American cinema. (John Travolta comes in a close second)
