They look like complete trash with LT2 struggling as he is.

They scared the hell out of me before I saw this. They still do all on their potential, but if we can do this number on LT2, we'll win comfortably.

If not for a struggling Philly offense (mistakes, terrible clock management, penalties), they'd be absolutely dominating this game.

If our defense can just "control" Tomlinson, and our offense plays like it has at times this year (NY, 1st half Philly, MIA), we should win the game comfortably.

well it's kinda pissing me off, I really needed LT to have a huge day in a losing effort. A lot of money riding on my fantasy league this year

I disagree.

Philly has been making life miserable with their blitzes.

We can, and have in the past, control LdT, but we haven't gotten the kind of pressure on Brees that Philly has been.

To win in SD, Gun has to get back to man with Surtain and Warfield, and finally unleash Bell on blitzes.

I also think Allen has to come up big.

The key is you have to be able to cover BEHIND the blitzes necessary to stop LT/pressure Brees imo.

I'm assuming that with our 2 best corners on the field finally, we can cover the wideouts.

I would also hope that DJ, with 6 games under his belt, is finally ready to step up and show us all his highly touted pass coverage ability.

The key is to get to Brees quickly so that the rest of the defense doesn't have to cover for too long.

i've seen our linebackers having to cover wide receivers an awfully lot lately.

i think teams are using their RB and TE's to clear our Corners out and then let their WR's run shallow routes while being cover by our linebackers ... a mismatch imo.

hopefully with warfield and surtain we can play more man/man and stop that.

That's my hope as well, because clearly, Gun can't scheme a decent zone.

i just don't understand while we don't cover within the zones :banghead:

sometimes our guys just stand there 10 feet away until they catch the ball before they move in for the tackle.

we are really bad when it comes to RB out of the backfield ... the RB just sit there open for the entire play until they get a dump off pass. I wish 1 of our guys would move up and try for a pass defense.

i miss milkman :sulk:

Well, it looks like the Chargers don't need LT to carry them after all. At least they came back and took the lead 17 - 10.

I think it's a problem with coaching.

It starts with Gun, who I have thought was never a great DC, though I thought he was better than Spinner.
He's very limited in his ability to adapt and adjust.

Then you have Guinta, who I wouldn't even hire to coach PeeWee football, much less NFL secondaries.

I don't yet have an opinion on Pagac, but the LBs are improved this year, but that is more a reflection of added talent than any coaching, except in the case of Mitchell, who's improvement has more to do with Gun and game experience.

Overall, I'd have to say we have a mediocre defensive staff.

I'm in the opposite boat, playing against LT this week.

Well, if Gun had been able to hire his own defensive coaches, things might be different. I watch every game on Tivo over and over, and it often looks DJ loses the RB, either by pick play or he just flat out covers the wrong person.

Against Miami, he covered the TE that Mitchell was covering several times.
