do you get a picture to post in your message that is saved on your hard drive? I know I have been here long enough that I should know how but I have been going nuts now for 1/2 hour trying to get it to work!! I know how to link to a url of a picture, but adding one from my hard drive is proving to me beyond my limited knowledge!

Upload with imageshack and use the IMG tags.

What particular type of message do you speak of?

I just want to include a picture in the text of my post. Nothing to complicated (or at least I thought)!!

Or alternately, use the "Manage Attachments" link at the bottom of the message entry screen. Once there, hit the Browse button to locate the file on your local drive, select it, then click the Add This File button.

So that is the only way to do it? I thought there was a way to do it just by attaching the file to the post and have it appear in the body of the post.

You can do that, too. Just click the "manage attachments" link and attach your image from your hard drive before you submit your post.

I use imageshack mostly because I'd rather save the wear and tear on the Planet. Plus I registered so imageshack keeps track of all the images I upload and they are there for handy reference later.

I have tried that several times and it has not worked (adding the attachment.)

You were probably attaching the image to the first post in a thread. It won't show up if you do that.

Also, 800x800 is the maximum resolution for attached images. That's another reason to use imageshack if you have larger pictures.

I know the rule about not posting the picture in the first post (don't understand it, but do know it). Not sure about the resolution, I will check it. Thanks for your help!
