Hilarious prank pulled by Cal on USC player...gotta read this!

Sorry if this is a repost, but this is downright hilarious. The guy had to be embarassed beyond belief. They did him dirty. Here's the story.

Story:-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Victoria, not Victorious

At last Saturday's Cal men's hoops season finale versus USC, Bears boosters pulled a prank that straddles the fuzzy gray line between "Crap-Yer-Pants Hilarious" and "Inexcusably Cruel."

When USC guard Gabe Pruitt took his first trip to the free throw line early in the game, the Cal student section hollered in unison: "VIC-TOR-IA, VIC-TOR-IA," and then yelled out a telephone number. Pruitt glanced back at the crowd in horror and bewilderment before clanking his free throws.

It turns out that a couple of mischeivous little bastards from the Cal student section had been IM'ing with Pruitt all week under the identity of "Victoria," a fictional UCLA hottie, and Pruitt was eagerly anticipating a date with this nubile co-ed back in Westwood after the game. In preparation for the date, Pruitt had handed over his digits, which the Cal student section recited back to him in unison.

Pruitt, a 79% free throw shooter this season, missed both shots after the "VIC-TOR-IA" chants began, and hit only three out of 13 shots the whole game. Cal beat USC by 11 for the season sweep, in part due to the Cal fans' devious psy-ops.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here are a couple more perspectives:

Story:-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Victoria was a "UCLA co-ed" created by Cal's rally-comittee. Using AOL instant messenger "she" had been chatting with [USC guard] Gabe [Pruitt] for the last week online. Gabe and several of his teammates were all set to go to Westwood when they got back tonight so that they could party with Victoria and her friends. At the game today when he first was introduced in the starting lineup the chants began to start. "Victoria, Victoria, and then followed by her phone number!"

The look on Gabe's face when he turned to the bench after the first Victoria chant was priceless. It was unlike anything I have ever seen from a opposing player. He was in shock. It was hilarious. Transcripts of their conversation were handed out to the bench. My personal favorite quotes by Gabe: "You look like you have a very fit body." and "Now I want to c u so bad."

Postscript: Pruitt went 3/13 from the field and Cal gained a much-needed 11 point win as they try to make their way into the last few selections of the NCAA tournament. I'm not sure if the prank was the difference in the game, but it certainly looks to have been a big factor.

Story:---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Also during the game, we heard the Bench chanting "Victoria" whenever Gabe Pruitt of U$C took the free throw line or had the ball. We also saw Rally Comm hold up some phone number of (323) xxx-xxxx. We didn't know what this meant...but I later found out the story. I have to say...I wish we did this when I was on the Bench.

Turns out some students posed as a UCLA co-ed named Victoria. Chatted on IM with him and basically "seduced" him with some fake pictures and made him promise that he'd show up at UCLA after they got back from the Bay Area for a "date". But of course to work this out, they needed his phone number. BAM. They kept chatting just to keep it going over the next few days. And when Gabe Pruitt took the line for his first free throws, the Bench began "Victoria, Victoria..." Apparently he turned, and gave the Bench the most embarrassed look anyone could give. He also then missed his free throws. The crowd was on him all game...and it was a bad one for him.

That's why basketball is cool. Fans can get involved moreso than in any other sport. They are so close to the action.
