I went out to the crash site once when I was in the area. I didn't see any town though. It is way out in the country in Chase County. Small planes crashes were plentiful during this era. Avaiation was only 25 years old.

it is in the middle of a field about 3 miles from a rest area on the kansas turnpike.

They have a memorial to Knut at the rest area run by Matfield Green off the turnpike (335).

ive been there it's cool. the closest the state of kansas will get to having a football coach.lol

We've also had Doug Weaver and Terry Allen. They crashed and burned just like Knut Rockne.
