What's the WORST albums of 2006 so far?
I'm not the CD hog like I used to be, so I don't hear every new song by every band that comes out. But one that I did buy, that I am completely ashamed to say I did buy, is Def Leppard's "Yeah". Understand, I am a child of the 80's, and when I think of Def Leppard, I think of the albums High n Dry and Pyromania. Good rockin' party albums.
"Yeah" is complete shit. COMPLETE shit. Complete SHIT. It's like they 1) are trying and failing to become some type of pop band, almost in a boy bandish way, or 2) they made an album just for the sake of making an album. Actually, it brngs to mind when Neil Young was stuck in a record contract, and his label demanded he make two rock n roll albums. He did, but they were 50's sounding, "golden age" albums. They bombed, he was released, and then went on to make platinum selling albums. If this scenario is true with Def Leppard, they might save a little face. Or, most likely, they have completely lost it, and need to go away. This has been therapeutic. So, what other albums would you rate as "worst" so far this year? |
Most of the songs on Yeah fall pretty flat, as most of their material after Hysteria has done (with the exception of Retroactive), although there were a couple pretty good tunes, most notably their rendition of "Rock On." However, since the album is all covers, I don't really count it as an indicator of their progression or decline.

Is it worse than Slang? That was horrible. Ive actually enoyed Def Leppards last 2 albums "X" and "Euphoria". But, they are definately far far from their glory years of 20-25 years ago.

Definitely (to both the last two posts).

I saw them perform on some VH1 show about a month ago and the lead singer has totally lost it. They sucked HARD. |
I can't think of one in particular, but there have been several disappointments. I was looking forward to the Shinedown CD until I heard some of it on the radio. It sounded like they weren't trying very hard.
