Turley Running at LT??

I thought it would be Black but all the reports I saw today seem to say Turley will be the LT.

As long as he is healthy that makes me feel somewhat better. He knows the system at least so he can focus on his game and not the system and the game as Black would.

Calm down, its not like they're not going to pick the best person for the job. Though it seemed quite apparant to me he was the heir apparant to Roaf, cause Sampson seems to be a worthwhile starter while healthy.

bring him on..

turley plays w/ a nasty streak and as long as he's strong enough to handle the position, keep him in

just what we need to pound the ball on the ground

I would like to see Sampson at RT and Turley at LT for now and see how that works out.

This is good. I think Turley is a much better fit at LT than RT, and he's a better fit at LT than anyone else on the team.

I think Trent probably feels better with Turley there too. Turley being a little undersized can also help with him pulling out on Toss-Sweeps and such. Without Roaf we kind of take on an O-Line more like Denver with Weigman already being an undersized Center.

Turley would be great...while he lasts.

He's going to have to put on the weight that the doctors told him to shed to keep his back healthy. My guess is if he gets up to a weight that makes him an effective every down tackle, he's going to greatly increase the risk of doing more damage to his back.

I can see him not making it through the season.

I'm not happy about willie but at least we have time to get someone in there unlike last year! I still see our offense in the top 10 and our defense will be better!

JimNasium 07-28-2006 09:52 PM

I'm beginning to think that Turley was the backup plan all along.

B_Ambuehl 07-28-2006 09:54 PM

The most important thing is the left tackle needs to be able to pass block effectively so this might not be a bad thing. Turley is probably the only lineman on the roster who is light enough and fleet enough to consistently protect the edge against the likes of the myriad of speedy 260 pound DEs and 3-4 OLBs like Shawn Merriman and Joey Porter the LT has to face. The reason Black struggled so much is because he simply doesn't have the athletic ability and quick feet to stay with those speedy outside rushers. Turley might not be able to run block at his lighter bodyweight but as long as he can stay on a guy and not allow the passing attack to be crippled he oughta be alright.

skky man, I think your sig photo is quite tacky, and can you make it bigger?

jspchief 07-28-2006 10:11 PM

Take a look at this picture and tell me that Turley is going to be our left tackle.

He's gaining weight, per his interview on the Chiefs site. Just look at Denver's Oline, they're small. But they hold though, so nevermind.

Jesus.

At that size, he couldn't play tackle period.

He looks no bigger than Gonzo or Wilson......who are listed at 250.
