Who has still been collecting state quarters?

I just discovered one of those books you can buy to collect all the quarters. I had the 1999 series filled and Massachusetts and Vermont, or something like that. Completely forgot about my collection.

How many of you have started at the beginning of the series and have kept going?

I have a roll of each of the first four, being a cashier and all. After that it got boring.

MY F-I-L collect them and keeps them for the grandkids. We're always on the lookout for the quarters he needs.

I have a book for each of the two mints going. I get them through normal circulation.

I was hoarding the state quarters for several years. Every time I got one in change I would save it. It drove my wife crazy, because she saw it as money that was just sitting there doing nothing. This spring I cashed all the extras in for one of these:

When I considered whether I would rather have a really nice smoker or a bunch of duplicate quarters, the decision was pretty easy.

I had a great thread going on the state quarters, but it's evidently been destroyed in the great database purge. I was dying to slap you with a REPOST on such a lame topic.

I have - at least the Denver mint. I have all that are out so far. Don't see ANY Philly mints out here though - my last Philly mint is Illinois in '03.

Anyone back east having the same problem with Denver mint but has plenty of Philly mint, I'd be up for some trading.

Pastor-

I get about 2 Philli mints for every Denver mint. My Philli book is usually about 2 states ahead of my Denver book. I notice when I go to KC it is almost all Denver mints. I could have helped you before I cashed in for the smoker.

I guess I'll have to send some neg rep to SNR for starting this thread too late then.

I have to admit, I do find quarter collecting arousing...

KChiefsQT 08-21-2006 04:57 PM

My Nana (great grandma) buys me a roll everytime a new state comes out. When I'm 93, I guess I will find quarter collecting as appealing as she does.

I still have some all silver (pre 1964) dimes and quarters somewhere.

When I was a paperboy for the DM Register, I took in a lot of silver coins which my dad would buy from me. When the Hunt brothers tried to corner the silver market, my dad cashed in about $50 face value silver coins to the local hardware store for a color TV, a full upright freezer, and a washer and dryer.

Me and my quarters get freaky. I can't find the latest Denver mint quarters in 2005 and 2006. Doesn't that figure. :banghead:

Damn Shannahan, I know he's behind this atrocity. :cuss:

whoman69 08-21-2006 08:32 PM

I have been collecting but its difficult because I never carry any money. I don't worry about which mint it came from.

Can you find the same years in Philly mint? I am sure that a trip to the car wash will turn up all of those in Denver mint and would be glad to look and send them to you for Philly mint of the same.

That's cool. Grammys and great grammys make the world go round.

I dont collect them but my Grandma does. She doesn't get out much so I'll save up about 5 different ones, and then give them to her.

My favorite is Indiana. How can you beat an Indy car on a coin!?!
