I've been looking for about an hour now and can't seem to find it anywhere. This question involves the Renaissance time. Why did the renaissance begin in Italy?

Interesting. I had always assumed that it was because there were such strong sea trading networks in places like Venice that it caused a fertilization of ideas. I didn't know about the ancient texts and stuff.
