Who would win in a Fight?
 

CHAPS GUYS? or BANANA REPUBLIC GUYS?


I was flipping through my new issue of ESPN the magazine, hurrying past the requisite ad garbage that pollutes the first ten pages, and noticed a surplus of "aspirational young whities with token African American" in confident poses for your (not so) favorite clothing companies. It made me wonder, who'd win in a fight? Which one of these brands would I want to identify with based on cliche manliness and physical strength and cunning? After all, this is my SPORTS rag they're living in.

So I thought I'd open it up to my BB jury.

Who'd win in a fight?

Just to keep if a fair three-on-three match, Banana Republic guys don't get to bring the girl, nor "Seacrest guy."

So, it's CHAPS guys (Ed Begley Jr. guy, Black guy with English accent guy, and Luke Wilson guy)
versus
Banana Republic Guys (Charlie from Party of Five with Photoshopped stubble and clear complexion guy, snarky Adrian Brody with glasses guy, and Puerto Rican MLB baseball player with Kobe Bryant hair guy)

No weapons, just fists. And they'd have to wear the clothes from the ad.

Things to consider: BR guys' stubble guy looks like he has some mean hooks for scratching. Glasses guy already has his shirt unbottoned and tie loosened, he's ready to throw down. Knit sweaters pull off easily for intimidating pec flexing.

CHAPS guys' are wearing the layered look, which could hamper flexibility, but the soccer ball implies they'd be good at kicking, and notice the "no socks" policy on all three. That could mean they know martial arts, or implies some kind of organized gang affiliation. Or, it could just mean they'll run off BR guys' with foot stank.

But - looking at the pics, I'd say the Chaps guys destroy the BR guys.

I feel really badly about all that. The fog has nearly cleared my home. Nearly.

A fresh coat of paint throughout the house should help. Or six coats.
