KU: Giles out for semester

Giles rejoins team; won't play this semester

LAWRENCE -- University of Kansas junior basketball center C.J. Giles will resume practicing with the team today, Head Coach Bill Self said Friday. Giles, however, will not be permitted to play in any games this semester.

"We have evaluated C.J.'s progress regarding his various responsibilities," Self said, "and will continue to do so. He will be allowed to practice with the team, but he will not play in a game this semester. This penalty is appropriate for the lack of responsibility he has shown to his coaches, teammates and the Kansas basketball family.

"In the meantime, we will continue to monitor his progress. I will not comment further on C.J.'s status until after the first semester."

"I apologize to my coaches and teammates for my actions," Giles said. "I understand why I have been suspended. I know I have to improve myself as a person - for my own good and for the good of the team."

You won't have any problem with folks cracking on WSU players. Nobody knows who they are.

That's because most KU fans are so self-centered they don't know what is going on outside of Allen Field House.

Either that or they don't care for minor league sports.

There's a reason why teams rush the floor when they beat KU.....because it's their school's greatest achievement....

For KU...it's just another win towards another year being placed up on the conference champions or ncaa champions banners.

Which position would you rather be in???

The Valley had a good year.........for them. But they are still minor league until they sustain it for a few years. No "One Year Wonders" allowed.

I don't know. With the right coaching and consistent recruiting, and a chance to consistently have 4th and 5th year seniors, a few of those Valley teams could make a Gonzaga-esque dent in the NCAA's year after year.

But... I don't see WSU, Bradley, Creighton or another Valley school back to the Final Four for a few years.
