Dolphins pick Cameron but must work out details

By ARMANDO SALGUERO AND JEFF DARLINGTON

The Dolphins have decided Cam Cameron should be their next coach and are in the process of finalizing details of the hiring, a source close to the process has told The Miami Herald.

Among the details that are being worked out is whether Cameron indeed wants the job. Cameron was said to have to speak with his family about moving from Coronado, Calif.

If that hurdle is cleared, a contract would have to be worked out and that could take up to one day.

The team brought Cameron back to its Davie training facility for a third consecutive day this afternoon following a morning of meetings between owner Wayne Huizenga and his staff.

Upon arriving, Cameron was escorted into a meeting with Huizenga.
About 12:25 p.m. today, general manager Randy Mueller left the team's facility in his Lexus, only to return 15 minutes later with Cameron in the passenger seat. About 2 p.m., Huizenga and Cameron were still meeting at the facility.

Cameron, the offensive coordinator for the San Diego Chargers and former head coach at Indiana, had spent the night at the Renaissance Hotel in Plantation after interviewing with the Miami officials the previous Wednesday evening and Thursday.

The Dolphins have planned no news conferences to introduce Cameron since the hiring process is still incomplete.

Sandy Eggo fans are probably about ready to commit suicide about now.

Marty coming back and Cameron leaving sounds good to me.

Hacket was with the Bucs, where is Jimmy Rae. Or was Rae with the Buc? oh well

Amnorix 01-19-2007 01:36 PM

Hopefully by the time he finds a QB and fixes that pathetic offense, Taylor and Thomas will retire and the defense will be in shambles.

They have talent issues down there. But I'm glad to see the Chargers weakened. That's a good thing for their AFC West foes (including your favorite Red and Gold team) and AFC Championship contendahs (including my favorite team).

Actually, they're trying to pin the playoff loss on him. It's the same myopia chiefs fans suffered from for years.

I'd say that's a pretty big detail.

I was thinking the same thing! Back to Martyball for the Bolts.

Yes!

What a great hire by the Dolphins. He's an offensive-mind who is going to bring creativity and an aggressive attitude on offense... the exact opposite of what the Chiefs got when the hired Herm.

FloridaMan88 01-19-2007 04:36 PM

Also add Miami to the list of NFL teams with a better head coach than Herm Schottenheimer.

Let's look at the updated list:

Miami- Cameron
New England- Belicheck
NY Jets- Mangini
Baltimore- Billick
Cincy- Marvin Lewis
Titans- Jeff Fisher
Colts- Dungy
Texans- Kubiak
Donks- Rodent face
Chargers- Marty
Dallas- Tuna
Redskins- Gibbs
Eagles- Andy Reid
Bears- Lovie
Saints- Sean Payton
Falcons- Bobby Petrino
Panthers- Fox
Lambs- Linehan
Arizona- Wisenhunt
49ers- Nolan
Seattle- Holmgren

Pittsburgh and Oakland don't have head coaches so throw them out, otherwise you are left with Buffalo, Cleveland, NY Giants, Tampa, Minnesota, Detoilet and Green Bay as the teams with worse head coaching situations than what the Chiefs have with Ulta-Conservative Herm.

Thank you again, Carl for bringing this failure to KC

kubiak ??? herm may suck but hes better than kubiak
