Uptown?

There's a concert in March I'd like to go see at the Uptown Theatre. Is it a nice place to watch a concert?

I've never been to a real good venue to see a concert. I've been to the Cotillion and the Coliseum here in Wichita. I've also only been to like 4-5 concerts total. I'm still young.

I'm sure the Uptown is 474142112x better then both of those.

Any details would be appreciated.

I think so.

How's the parking situation? How crowded is it?

There's a shopping center near there where you can park for free.

It's kind of like the orpheum in Wichita but better.

Going to see Lindsey Buckingham in a couple of weeks.

parking is across the street on the west side...upper level.

Park at the grocery store next to it. Go early to get a free spot. Uptown is a great place to see a show-not a bad seat. I have seen many many bands there. It is my favorite place to see a show.

Here's a clip of the Rainmakers playing live at the Uptown (probably in the 80's). Should give you a good idea of the interior or the venue...

If you're old enough to drink and plan to do so bring some cash,I had to pay $10 for a large Boulevard Wheat at the Satriani concert.

I'm old enough - and I do enjoy a nice, icy cold beer from time to time. I'm just not willing to pay 10 bucks for one.

All food or drinks cost an arm and a leg there. It's all general admission, although there are seats up in the balcony if you'd rather sit down. No smoking inside the venue if that is a concern for you. There is no mass-parking in the area, especially if you aren't early. You'll just end up parking along a street in the area. Other than that, it's your basic medium-sized urban music venue.

The no smoking guideline is pretty cool. I don't mind smoke, just don't enjoy a room full of it.

Thank you all, you've been plenty helpful. :)

It's a cool venue for a concert, especially if you're an old fart like me and can get one of the first rows upstairs to sit in. :)

I wish Harrah's Voodoo Lounge would have more big names come play there. Think Uptown, only modernized.
