Trent Green appears destined to remain with the Kansas City Chiefs when the NFL meetings conclude today.

At the current pace of negotiations with potential trade partners – the Miami Dolphins and Detroit Lions – Green will be a Chief for quite some time.

Chiefs' president/general manager Carl Peterson indicated the team may hold on to Green until the draft in late April.

I sure wish they would just take what they can get and move on no way they get want they want for him.

There is no reason to just accept whatever garbage someone is offering at this point.

We are going to cut him any ways might as well get something for him do you really think any one is going to come off a first day pick for 37 year old QB?

they'll offer more than a 6th or 7th.

I swear, it's like some people have never bought a car before.

we have no real reason to trade Green yet.

I could see Miami coming off a 5th if they had one but they don't and I just don't think they will send a 4th but I hope I'm wrong.

i mean they offered the 2nd to last pick of the draft. Those guys rarely even make the team.

Trent just might decide it's ok to accept a restructured contract here, and he's our starter in '07.

I would feel just fine with Trent, Damon, and Brodie battling in training camp, not sure about all you garage sale goers though. You might miss out on the next Jeremy Parquet, the 238th selection of the 2005 draft. (Note that this is the 7th round selection Miami is offering, via New England in the Wes Welker trade, after adding in the comp picks for rounds 3-6.)

I hear you I think we would have better luck with getting a better pick out of Det. If they even really want Green from what I understand it is not 100% that Det even wants him who knows?

not to mention if another team loses their QB to injury in these offseason camps.

Not to mention if we lose a QB, Trent just might have a much more attractive contract renegotiation then what he'll get from Miami.

I guess all I'm sayin to the fire sale crowd is just chill, Trent Green is still a Chief, and there's no sure thing he won't be a Chief in '07. TG in RnG is worth more to me than the next Jeremy Parquet.

I can see us packaging him with a pick and moving up on draft day. Maybe in the second or third round. :shrug:
