Yep, loading the wife and kids in the family truckster and headin up the weekend of the 21st. Only two full days...Sunday and Monday. No definite plans, save for the Yankees at Royals on the night of the 23rd. Also want to try this Oklahoma Joe's place I've been hearing about.
this is our first visit since the summer of '03.
Lookin for advise on family friendly things we should check out while we're up. Food, shopping, museums...whatever. Weve never been to Zona Rosa(sp?) nor have we been to the toy and miniature museum or something like that.

Skip Zona Rosa and just go to the original, the Country Club Plaza.

Oklahoma Joe's has become my favorite BBQ restaurant so definitely check it out. The Toy and Miniature museum would definitely be cool for your kids. Other than that, walk around if you can and get a good vibe of the city.

As far as shopping goes, the Oak Park Mall is the nicest.

Ah yes. The eternal Kansas/Missouri debate continues. Both are great for shopping.

Oh, we'll definitely go to the Plaza... thats a given...just never been to Zona

Yeah. That area is pretty great, especially if you have kids in tow.
There's Cabella's for you, Nebraska Furniture Mart for the wife, and tons of stuff in the Legends area that the kids would love.

Is Arthur Bryant's at the speedway just outside of the speedway (accessible year-round) or can you only get there on race day?

Oklahoma Joe's is great. I'm sure people have already given you recommenations, but their ribs and pulled pork are the best things on the menu IMO.
If you get good directions, it would be a great place to go before the Royals game. I've done that as my pre-game meal a couple times.
