Welcome to the board. There are political and other off-topic threads here too, but they are usually labelled NFBT so that you know ahead of time. That makes them easy to avoid :). The football threads usually stay football though - it's amazing how every thread on the Star BB seems to degenerate into trolls/members slinging insults.
