It looks like it is tape delayed here. Starts at noon. No more reading this thread for me.

ROYC75 07-29-2007 11:46 AM

Up by 3 with one hole to play..........

I'll call it, Watson wins Sr. British Open. :D

ROYC75 07-29-2007 11:52 AM

Holy Shit ! He dropped 2 shots and won by 1 on the last hole. :shake:

What a great week. Last Sunday, Paddy wins it, loses it, then snatches it back from Garcia.

Today, Kansas city's 3rd franchise holds tight and wins the Open.

Another nice rainbow of a day.

Historically, is Tommy Watson underrated?

I don't think so, milkman. Tom seems to still get much respect for his accomplishments as a player. He's been a great ambassador for the game also.

IMO, he gets his due.

Congrats Tommy! :toast:

The guy had, and is recognized as having the best run in golf between 75 and 85. He lost his PGA putting touch and that was all she wrote.

You just wonder what type of damage he could have done had he been able to keep the putter in check. I'd guess at least 2-3 more majors would have been highly attainable.

The reason I ask is because whenever I watch a major golfing event, and the announcers start to wax nostalgic about some of the "great" golfers it seems that Watson is invariably mentioned as an afterthought after the likes of Ben Crenshaw and Johnny Miller, whose records pale by comparison.
