Jared Allen take note

"The Patriots signed standout defensive end Ty Warren to a five-year extension on Thursday worth over $36 million, including $17.5 million in guaranteed money.

Warren, the 13th overall pick in the 2003 NFL Draft, had two years remaining on his exisiting contract. The 6-foot-5, 300-pound Warren started in all 15 games he played last season and has missed just one game during his career. He registered a career-high 7.5 sacks in 2006."

- Allen's going to be looking for LJ type money.
- It's amazing how some clubs can reach big money extensions TWO years ahead of time in order to successfully build a team.

Allen needs to recognize that Warrens not been out getting caught drunk driving twice....could explain why partially

Allen is a better player than Warren...this will be interesting...DE is a premium position....

Allen doesnt deserve it just yet. He can put all the blame on himself.

So the Pat's have locked up both Seymour and Warren. Wilfork should have at least 2 if not 3 years left on his rookie deal.

I hope we can keep our budding, star line together.

Allen has 2 DUI's, Warren doesn't.

I'd be more comfortable giving Allen that money than LJ. Allen has more than a decade of football left in him.

That's exactly what we're doing with LJ.

C'mon. You can't be serious. LJ is holding out. The extension isn't voluntary and in good faith like New Englands. And, JA's two DUI's aren't going to go away. It's really not an excuse not to sign him to an extension right now. The only thing that will happen is his price will sky rocket because lesser players will get big contracts.

We've negotiated good faith extensions before. Furthermore, we don't have to negotiate with LJ at all. And you're right, there's no excuse not to sign Allen to an extension right now, other than it would be nice to get LJ out of the way first. That being said, there's not an overwhelmingly compelling reason to sign him right now, either.

They'll take care of Allen after the season, especially if he performs well and has the "break out season" that many seem to be predicting. Not worried about Allen.

Warren might have been the Patriots' best defensive player last season. He was definitely the best d-linemen. He put up 84 tackles and 8 sacks as a 3-4 DE. That is pretty amazing.
